What would it cost to fix a blown head gasket on a 2000 Chevy Malibu?
Well I just blew a head gasket in my 2000 Chevrolet Malibu and my mechanic said it would take 2 to 3 days to fix and would normally cost about $1200 to $1300 to fix but he is charging me $700. I live in Atlanta so I'm not sure if location matters. I've looked elsewhere but $700 is the cheapest so carburetors I trust them don't go to somebody u don't trust.

WARNING DO NOT LET ANTI FREEZE TO COME IN CONTACT WITH YOUR SKIN OR PAINTED SURFACES OF CAR--WASH OFF IMMEDIATELY-ANTIFREEZE IS HIGHLY TOXIC IF INGESTED-DON'T LEAVE PUDDLES OR OPEN CONTAINER THE SWEET SMELL MAY ATTRACT CHILDREN OR PETS-DISPOSE OF IT ACCORDING TO LOCAL LAWS Draining-Pull car over pit or use ramps or jack stands.(note: some ramps which were made for older vehicles that had more ground clearance may scrape or damage the underneath of your car.) apply parking brake and block wheels.WARNING if you have just driven your vehicle wait several hours before starting procedure to let engine cool down. Draining-put a large container under the radiator to catch coolant. The drain plug is located on the lower right side of radiator. If possible attach a 3/8 inch diameter hose to the drain fitting. To open the drain fitting turn counter clockwise(you may need to use pliers to turn it, but be careful fitting is made of a composite plastic). The drain plug is shaped on the order of a wing nut also it will not come off. It just opens enough to get a good flow. After coolant has drained from radiator move your container under the engine block drain plugs,there is one on each side of the block. After plugs are removed you might need to insert a Phillips screwdriver to break thru a rust barrier that has formed. If all you are doing is draining the coolant and not flushing that's it. Be sure to use permatex or some kind of thread compound on your engine block plugs. Shut the radiator drain plug.

On the inside of the distributor cap, there should be a #1 marked on the plastic roof of the cap.That is the first plug wire to connect to the 1st cyl.the firing order of the distributor is 1,2,3,4,5,6 starting at the first one and continuing around clockwise.
the 2nd cylinder wire on the distributor cap will be facing the left side of the motor; it will need to cross over the right side and looks kind of out of place but that's OK.the same with the 5th cyl., it will cross over to the other side and look out of place but that's OK.

i don't think it has anything to do with a fuse . i think your choke is out of adjustment possibley a week spring in the choke causing the choke to open to quickly . your carb may also need a rebuild if its a rochester they are not to hard to do . lots of info on the web . alot of bad info as well .
The choke works in conjunction with the oil pressure sending unit. Check a wiring schematic and you can trace it out. Replace the oil pressure sending unit.

the sensor could be dirty. clean off the accumulated crud with a toothbrush and if the low coolant light still remains on then the sensor will need to be replaced.

On mine it was the fuel pressure regulator. I have a 4 cyl engine with 185 K miles on it. Over the life of the car, I have replaced the regulator several times. I tried an aftermarket regulator, that lasted only a few thousand miles. The factory equipment unit is more but worked about 5 times longer.To check it, I would have the car running, cold, and pull the vacume line to the regulator. All but one time, gasoline would squirt out of the port where the vac hose hooks up, to the regulator, so BE CAREFUL, RAW GASOLINE. One time I didn't have gas, but it still was the problem. Apparently, the fuel rail gets hot enough to trash the diaphragm inside the regulator. .
