Most of them are behind the glovebox on the heater enclosure. You may have to remove the heater control and/ or radio if that is in the way. The hard part is getting to it; they are usually held in place by a couple of screws and just plug into a connector. I hope this helps you. Mark

It is in the fuse box under the hood next to the air filter.

You will need a ratchet and a strong friend. Put the ratchet on the bolt on the pulley that moves. You will know which one it is because when you turn it the belts wll loosen and tighten on the pulley. have some one hold the ratchet down so you can remove the belt from the pulley... pull it off. Remember how it came off to put it back on. Once you pull the belt off you can let the ratchet go. Put the belt parallel with the pulley and pull the ratchet down. WHen it loosens the pulleys slide the belt on and let the ratchet go. ZRemove ratchet. Don't start the car but tap the key forward 3 to 4 times to make sure the belt is on track. Then start it up!!

open trunk,pull back inside lining to trunk,there should be 3 or 4 plastic nuts to take off. then pull out light assembly.

have car scanned to find problem code, for it may be a bad crank sensor. if no scanner, any auto parts store will scan for free. then repost if needed.

mine does too. 99 malibu...seems like when it guts warmed up it seems to go. ONly had problem 2X where I thought it was not gonna go.

YES!!! The pistons WILL contact the valves and destroy the engine if the timing is not correct.

On the V6 engine, it is under the ignition coils on the top rear of the engine.

O the 4 cylinder, it is bolted to the top of the engine cover, on the driver side. There is an electrical connector plugged into it.

I have a 76' Malibu and almost the whole time I have had it the gen light is on except when I just put a new alternator in it. Then the light would go out for a while, but always came back on after a while. What I found out was there is a Diode that goes bad in the alternator and causes the light to come on. Soon you have to get a new alternator.

check your brake light switch,at the brake pedal on top of pedal arm.

Open the driver's door on your 2000 Chevy Malibu and locate the access panel for the left-side fuse block--it's on the end of the instrument panel. Locate the fuse for your taillights in the fuse block. Chevy labeled the fuse as "stop lps" it is on the bottom row towards the front of car, good-day !

On the steering wheel you have the button for the driver information center (info button) . Press that button until you come to "oil life %" and AT THE SAME TIME, hold down the info button & the little arrow button & the next message should be "oil life reset". When you see this message, release the both buttons and press the "arrow" button for one second. You should get a "ACKNOWLEDGED" message. If not it did not reset and you have to do it again.

If you have problems getting the oil life system to reset with the previous way mentioned then try turning the key to ON and press the gas pedal three times.

GM doesn't give you the step to hold both buttons down

at the same time to get the OIL LIFE RESET message. They give you step 1 - to go to the oil life reset, then they say hit enter. They failed to include the following instruction

1a. hold down the info buttom and the enter button at the same time....

until you see OIL LIFE RESET

(then continue to step 2 in your manual)

The DIC will confirm you have reset after doing step 2

There isn't one!! This is funny because I just took my car to the shop today just because the information center in my 2006 Malibu 3.5 kept saying "power steering". There was no information along with this message so i had no clue what to do about it. i took the front right tire off, as i was told to do by a autozone tech, and jacked the car up. still no power steering reservoir.... when i told the mechanic this, this morning, he laughed and said that it was an electric steering system which runs off the alternator. there is no fluid because it is electric rather than hydraulic.

if your car is displaying that message too, good luck. the mechanic could not find any reason that my car was displaying that.

The fuel pump comes as a module and the cost could be between $550.00 and $625.00 installed.

Loose belt, bad wire connections, or bad alternator. Your local parts store should be able to test the alternator for you.

From 2000-2003 are the same engines in the GM family. Also look out of the same year of Pontiac and other Gm models will work with minor changes.
