Chrysler Sebring

I just took my 97 sebring convertable in for no turn signals, wipers, rear defroster and radio. They replaced the ignition switch and now everthing works.

Idle speed is computer controlled and is not adjustable.

Thick white smoke is an indication of coolant entering the combustion chamber. More than likely you have a blown head gasket, especially if the engine has overheated recently. Stop driving this car as severe engine damage will occur due to coolant in the oil. The heads must be removed and new head gaskets installed. A major repair. Sorry but that might be a head gasket going or already gone Are you loosing coolant or is the temp gauge riding higher than usual Also check your oil If it looks like a milkshake chances are your headgasket is blown

The usual cause is a failed blower motor resistor.

turn the key from the off position to the on position without starting the car 3 times, finishing with the key in the on position but without the engine running. this enables the check engine light to display any engine fault codes.

The oil pressure is low or the sensor has failed.

the 2.7l is an interference engine,if the primary chain breaks or jumps the pistons will hit the valves. it has a chain,not a belt(actually 3 chains)1 primary and 2 secondary chains 1 on each head to run the dohc's, the primary chain is usually the problem along with the primary tensioner going out,and on top of that the water pump running off the primary chain. when the water pump goes out (bearing or seal) all the antifreeze goes in the oil,and can cause more problems.

This vehicle has an almost unnoticable shift into overdrive. You will notice your revs go down slightly when it engages. if your car has been stuck in 2nd gear then your transmission has automatically engaged protect mode and you should immediately take your vehicle to a repair shop.

I worked at a library during high school, and we had a lot of auto repair manuals there, not necessarily the ones made by the manufacturers, but the ones made by publishers like Chilton and Motor (different books written for specific makes and models). I'm guessing somewhere around 621, but I could be wrong.

It does not have a drain plug. You remove the pan to drain the fluid.

The factory alarm is built into the body and engine computers and can not be removed.

The wate pump is timing belt driven, and the weep hole is in that area.

If the engine will not even crank, then suspect a defective battery or starter. Start by removing both battery cables and cleaning the cable connections and battery posts. Reconnect them and see if it starts. If not put a battery charger on the battery and fully charge it. If it will not accept a charge is is defective. It the vehicle starts then you may have a defective alternator. If the battery is good and it still will not start, suspect a bad starter. You will have to remove it and have it tested.

Yes, it is in the fuel tank.

If it's the 2.5L V-6:

1. Remove neg battery cable under hood (from frame)

2. remove the oil filter.

3. Remove the nut on the solenoid for the battery Pos. wire.

4. Pull off the other wire at the solenoid.

5. Remove the three bolts that hold in the starter.

It is possible a little low on coolant and has an air bubble in the heater core.

Sorry, the 2 dr Sebring is actually a Mitsubishi and cannot add keys without a programming tool.

I have experienced this problem. On the underside of the car, on both sides, running from wheelwell to wheelwell is a weld. There are several holes in the weld that become plugged and do not allow water to escape. You can feel where the weld seperates with your hand. I use a short piece of a coat hanger to open the holes. Make sure that the drain plugs in the rear fenderwells are out. With the convertible water that runs down the top has no where to go. It will accumulate in the fenderwells and then seep into the vehicle if the two rubber plugs are not removed to allow the water to drain out.

Take your car into a shop that does radiator flushes or buy a radiator flush kit from autozone or advanced auto stores you just need the cleaner and a hose

When you are flushing a cooling system, you should use an approved acid and a neutralizer. The neutralizer is meant to remove or neutralize the remnants of the acid.

It requires a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze.

Its located on the passengers side near the floorboard and the firewall..............
