What does sluge in the engine do?
Sludge is oil that becomes sticky like glue. It clogs the engine parts so no oil is getting through, thus no lubrication, the engines seizes up from grinding and overheating.
How do you perform a valve adjustment on a 3412 caterpillar?
You can perform a valve adjustment, on your 3412 Caterpillar diesel engine, by rolling the engine to the number one position. Tighten the valve adjustment screw. You will need to do this for each piston position.
How do you flush the engine on a 1997 Honda Accord?
Do you mean flush the oil (not recommended) or flush the coolant?
Can you replace a 4.6 DOHC engine with a 5.0 in a 1995 Ford Thunderbird?
The engines do not share the same bellhouseing bolt patter. If you had a 3.8 it would be a bolt in, the 5.0 and 3.8 share the same bellhousing pattern. The 4.6 has a bellhousing all its on. Baumann performance does offer an adapter plate to make them bolt up though. If you want a 5.0 just change the engine and trans out of a earlier T'bird , but good luck finding the 5.0 motor mounts for the 89 and up birds.{they are very hard to find}
How do you turn off the check engine light on a 2002 Toyota rav 4?
After my 2001 Rav 4's engine light was on for two years(...yes, after changing two $150-$200 sensors, 5 failed imspections, $250.00 fine for not passing inspection which lead to not being able to renew registration, 6 tickets for no current inspection/registration), Toyota finally sent me letter to say there was a recall on the check engine light. It took them approximately 30 ,imutes to fix the problem after two years of lost time and money...not to mention my driving record credibility (yes, the police can be nasty and give you a ticket more than once the same problem, even if you have a ticket in your hand frrom the same week...speaking from experience!)
Is the 2000 Chrysler 2.4 engine an interference engine?
Technically no, but I have seen valve hit valve when the timing belt breaks.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of spark ignition engine and combustion ignition engine?
what are the advantages and disadvantages of s.i engine
It has advantages and disadvantages. Both are heat engines, and the diesel engine both puts out more BTUs and has a higher thermal efficiency rating - diesels are approaching the 50 percent margin, whereas gasoline/petrol engines are still in limbo in the low 20 percentile. Diesel engines are higher maintenance, though, and now, with Euro 5, EPA 2010, and other emissions regulations, they're required to run Diesel Exhaust Fluid in addition to the fuel they burn, which can add up in expense.
What is the difference between detonation and knocking in ic engine?
Detonation involves a supersonic exothermic. Knocking in a engine is spark-ignition internal combustion.
Why is petrol not used in diesel engines or diesel in petrol engines?
Because the engines will not run with the wrong fuel to to their design.
Although both diesel and petrol engines are internal combustion engines, they have differences that enable them to use these different fuels.
A petrol engine ignites the fuel/air mixture by using a spark plug. A diesel engine in contrast has no spark but compresses air during the compression cycle. When air is compressed it heats up. Diesel is then injected into the cylinder and it ignites.
To what did the internal-combustion engine gave rise?
Automobiles, airplanes, and improved ocean liners
In NYC, it changed the pollution from organic solid waste to air-borne semi-organic.
What is jet engine engine pressure ratio?
The pressure ratio in jet engines is the ratio of pressure between the entrance of the compressor and the exit of the compressor.
What is a coolant heater on a diesel engine?
You're thinking of a block heater. It plugs in to shore power, and energizes an element attached to the engine block (some have dual elements, and the second one will go to the oil pan) to heat the coolant in the water jacket so that it doesn't freeze. In turn, once the engine is running, this heated coolant will get circulated to the rest of the system, and begin thawing out the remaining coolant.Although a block heater doesn't actually circulate the coolant when the engine is at rest, there is a type available which is essentially an electric pump which will pump coolant through a heating element and back into the cooling system... I've only ever seen it on really specialized heavy equipment.
Is a Mazda 2.7 liter engine a non interference engine?
I cannot find any Mazda 2.7 liter that even uses a cam belt. Model year would really help to give you a 100% answer.
machine that takes advantage of the fact that pressure is sorted out equally in all directions possible in a liquid. :)
What type of engine oil is used in a 1999 mercury mystique 4 cylinder?
5 w 30 - according to the owners manual
What is form of the energy conversion that take place to combustion engine?
Heat energy is released in a heat engine when fuel is burned. The heat energy is then changed into mechanical energy.
Can you run a combustion engine on pure hydrogen?
Sure, It takes a special intake and fuel supply system modification, but works good, just expensive.
What limits the amount of fuel injection in diesel engine?
Well, you don't want to inject more fuel than what the amount of air inside the cylinder will allow to burn. Any excess will just come out as black smoke, and may eventually damage the engine.
Older engines have mechanical fuel pumps which limits the amount, newer engines may have electronically controlled injectors and even exhaust monitoring to keep them from adding too much fuel.
What is the correct engine oil weight for a 351 Cleveland engine?
mobile 1 and never use and other additives
Oldsmobile check engine light flashing and engine sputtering?
The check engine light (service engine soon) comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, the problem is in the emissions or something that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions, but other causes can trigger the light to come on, too. To determine the cause, the vehicle will need to be taken to AutoZone or a shop that has an OBD2 scanner, or for 1995 and earlier models, an OBD1 scanner, While a scanner will not give you the magic answer, it will give you a code that narrows down the problem area.
A flashing check engine light is usually an indication of a severe misfire.
