How does gold plating improve cable conductivity?

The value of gold plating on cable conductivity is not in its low resistance. True, gold is one of the best conductors there is at room temperature. But it's value lies in its ability to resist corrosion. This can be a critical factor under certain conditions. We find gold plating on circuit board edge connectors and on the pins and sockets of IC's that plug in as well as on cables like those used in A/V setups. The gold plating, which is only a few atoms thick, makes for pretty much worry free connections. But there is one other thing.

A tiny (repeat: tiny) spritz of inexpensive silicone lubricant generally seals out bad stuff in a "normal" indoor cabling application, and it will provide a good shield against corrosion on a non-gold plated cable end. There may be some issues in places where there is excessive indoor air pollution, but the user will have to evaluate variables. In general, many "standard" applications will work just fine without a need for the more expensive gold-plated cable.

Why does my Windows XP Computer start up all by itself?

There are several reasons why a computer may seemingly turn on "by itself":

* There may be an automatic wakeup time set in the BIOS. * The BIOS may be set to turn the computer on automatically if it detects a power outage (even a minor power fluctuation can set this off) * You may have sent Windows XP into standby mode. In this mode, the computer powers almost everything down, maintaining only enough power to keep the contents of RAM present. When you bump the mouse or keyboard, it will bring the computer out of standby mode.

How do you convert music that is drm protected for free?

You need to find software that records sound on your computer. Most computer's come with some software, but Windows only has a 30 second sound recorder. You might be able to find a free program on the internet, but be careful as some of those free programs have viruses. Once you have the program you need one other item. A mini-plug to mini-plug / Male to male cable. Simply plug the speaker output into the microphone input and record the sound right back into your computer using the software. You should be able to adjust the volume of the recording through the software program. Most of these programs allow you to adjust the volume after you record it too. It is best to record it at about the volume you want first off all as amplifying it afterwards can sometimes make the sound messed up. This is an analog solution, but trust me that if you do it right your ears can't hear the difference. Nowadays computers and digital download quality is high enough that most people can't hear the difference. Good luck and don't buy your cable from Radio Shack because they simply charge too much. Look in your Yellow Pages for Electronic Retail Enjoy!

What do you do if you want to record music to a USB flashdrive?

Simple. Before you record anything, search for your USB drive (in Macs, under Devices, in Windows, an additional drive would be labeled "E:", for example.), click on it, and then search for the folder within the flash drive to save it to. The recording should be saved as the recording progresses. (Be sure not to unplug the drive while recording!)

What is the full form ascil?

Type your answer here... ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange.

Computers can only understand numbers, so an ASCII code is the numerical representation of a

character such as 'a' or '@' or an action of some sort.

ASCII was developed a long time ago and now the non-printing characters are rarely used for

their original purpose.

ASCII was actually designed for use with teletypes and so the descriptions are somewhat obscure.

If someone says they want your Resume however in ASCII format,

all this means is they want 'plain' text with no formatting such as tabs,

bold or underscoring - the raw format that any computer can understand.

This is usually so they can easily import the file into their own applications without issues.

Notepad.exe creates ASCII text, or in MS Word you can save a file as 'text only'

How do i install the front panel connections with the crystal 570 x computer case i have a z 270 motherboard but don't see the HDD led cable but i see other 3 cables that aren't labeled any help w?

There's something wrong because that case comes with HDD LED, HD AUDIO, POWER SW, RESET SW and a POWER LED+ and POWER LED - connector and they should all be labeled on the connector itself.

The HD audio is wider than the others. The power + and - are 2 single connector cables.

the remaining 3 you can do by trial and error.

plug one onto the power switch connector on the board, press the power button and see if it switches on. if that doesn't work try the next one. Do the same with the reset connector.

Does an image scanner have any life span?

With low to moderate use, they should last 6 months to 1 year. The daily duty cycle also affects the rate at which you will need to change your consumables, so if you scan more pages in a day than the duty cycle is rated for, you will need to change the consumables more often than normal.

Is Digital Storm a good company?

I would say yes and no. I've personally used Digital Storm for many years with very few problems. Their customer service is great along with their computers. The only problem I've had with Digital Storm is their price. Digital Storm charges a unjustifiably large premium for their computers, especially when you can get the same quality and customer service from smaller custom boutiques. I first discovered that when reading a few reviews from Digital Storm's customers. They were like me, happy with the computer, but unsatisfied with the price. A few of them mentioned an alternative to Digital Storm, Ironside Computers. At first, I was very skeptical about them, since I've always had the mentality of the more you pay the more you get, but after investigating the company and a call to customer service, I have since never looked back. Ironside's customer service is top notch and the computer they built me has been running for a little less than a year now, without any problems. They are definitely a great alternative to Digital Storm if you want to save money.

I bought a computer off eBay and it has some kind of thing called Child Control 2008 and the person i got it from doesn't know how to get it off can i hack it and how?

Reinstall the operating system. If you don't have a disk then Microsoft will provide you with one for $10 if you confirm that you own it w/ the product key.

If that's not an option then install an antivirus and block the program using it. The two programs will fight it out, but it will come down to whichever one runs first when you boot it.

If that isn't an option either then you can install Linux on a flash drive... and boot into it. Theres hundreds of websites that can show you how to do that. Once you boot into it you can remove the program directly by opening the harddrive, finding the child control program, and deleting it.
