The name of the first commercially available electronic digital computer is UNIVAC.

Transistors used less power, high speed types of transistors began to operate faster than tubes, lower voltages needed, less power dissipation, and greater reliability.

Note the early junction transistors were too slow for anything but audio amplifiers. It took about a decade to solve this problem. The first radios to use transistors were called "hybrid radios" as the RF and IF sections still used tubes.

Mainframe computers are used by big companies and organizations. They are high-end commercial machines used to make large scale data processing.

Most known manufacturers of mainframes are IBM, Burroughs (Unisys), UNIVAC, NCR, Control Data and Honeywell.

Apple started selling portable computers in 1989 with the Macintosh Portable. This was followed by the PowerBook 100 in 1991. For the PowerBook 500 (1994) Apple developed the trackpad controls now familiar on all laptops. It would be difficult to estimate how many laptops Apple have sold during the last two decades.

From what I have read there were 168 million PCs in the USA in 2000, and that number was expected to rise 14 million by the next year, So if you add 14 million a year from the year 2000 then we would now have roughly 280 million personal computers in the U.S.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (then called just Advanced Research Projects Agency) created ARPANET in 1969. initially consisting of just 4 sites: UCLA (Los Angeles, CA), Stanford Research Institute (Menlo Park, CA), UCSB (Santa Barbara, CA), and University of Utah (Salt Lake City, UT).

The first kind and simple computers were the abacus and pascals adding machine.

Then after further innovations more this came in existence.

Pascal's Bones was invented by Blaise Pascal.

Let's see... computers at that point in time were mostly used by the military for artillery applications. However some computers were being used for research purposed by universities at that time. An example that I remember was a computer called ENAIC, which dimmed the lights everytime it was turned on. I don't remember when, but a computer was also used to predict the winner of a presidential election back in the day.

A food processor is a multifunctional kitchen appliance that is designed to quickly and easily perform repetitive food preparation tasks like chopping, slicing, shredding, grinding, and pureeing. A food processor can be used to prepare almost any type of food. Importantly, a food processor can be a valuable time saving resource for any cook and eliminate stress that would otherwise be put on hands, wrists and forearms from repetitive cutting tasks.

· They might over cut, blend, chop, grate, need

· You don't have much control

· If you forget the lid to the tube it could go everywhere

· They are very dangerous to clean because of the sharp blades

Computer monitors (and all displays really) work by displaying a matrix of tiny dots (called pixels) in a grid which make up the picture on your screen.

Display resolution is simply the number of pixels your screen is displaying.

Example: 800x600 display resolution means that your display is made up of 800 pixels horizontally by 600 pixels vertically.

The higher the resolution, the sharper the image appears, and the smaller details can be rendered. Inversely, higher resolution settings can also make text, images, and webpages appear smaller on your screen, possibly making them more difficult to read.

I'm not sure you can however you could try using an application that will try to recover it since nothing is truly deleted because when you 'delete' something the computer just marks that storage as usable and as long as no new things have used that storage than its still there.

The best gaming PC would be on the has Windows not be Vista. But a normal PC wit good video card and things like that. Vista is the last thing you want to use! Actually, I have found that Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition is acceptable for gaming. As for video cards, ATI makes some really nice 1 to 2 GB video cards that are fairly cheap and have amazing graphics. However, the thing that makes or breaks a gaming computer is the motherboard, ram, hard drive, and processor combination. You may have a fast hard drive, lots of ddr3 ram, and a decent processor but if you need a motherboard that can transfer all the data quickly. The first "home computers" were more hobbyist computers than home computers. You really had to be more interested in them as a hobby that was going to consume much of your time rather than as a tool that was going to be useful. Many of them came in kits with inadequate instructions that you would have to assemble using a soldering iron, hopefully you made no mistakes!

The first one I saw advertised in an electronics magazine was called the Mark-8 using the Intel 8008 microprocessor. You could order a package including the schematics, PC board artwork, and parts list (you had to etch the boards yourself and buy the parts on your own) or you could order a set of already etched boards (you still had to buy the parts on your own). The Mark-8 had no I/O devices, so you would have to improvise these!

I remember it very clearly as I spent the first half of 1975 helping my senior year High School electronics instructor assemble one. Unfortunately I never got a chance to see if it ran or not as I graduated and left for College before we were able to finish assembling the kit.

Excel is the most well known electronic spreadsheet, but it was not the first one. The first was VisiCalc, invented in 1978. After VisiCalc arrived, lots of other companies started to make their own versions of electronic spreadsheets. A really successful one was Lotus 1-2-3. It launched in 1983. Excel did not launch until 1985. It eventually overtook Lotus 1-2-3 to become the best seller. Before any of the electronic spreadsheets, people did their calculations on paper-based spreadsheets. So before people used Excel, they either used one of the other electronic spreadsheet applications or did their work on paper-based spreadsheets.
