RealPlayer can play:

RM, RA, Ram, RT, RP, PNG, Gif, JPG, MP3, SWF, SMIL, SMI, WAV, AIFF, MPG, MPEG, AVI, ASF, MID, MIDI, RMI.

Quicktime can play all these plus many more. I would never recommend RealPlayer to anyone and never use it. I use Quicktime.

How do you upgrade my laptop speed?

To prevent and stop computer crashing, you have to avoid overheating. We all know that if the computer is being running too long, the CPU will become very hot. Hence, some of the hardware will become too hot and fail to respond, which results in the unexpected computer crashes. So do remember to let your computer have a break if it is running for a long time and place your computer into a well-ventilated room, and check your fan is always working well.

Secondly, guard your PC from spyware attacks. Spyware refers to any technology that is specifically developed to silently collect your personal or private information for illegal profits. Once your computer has been compromised by spyware, it starts to damage your system and try to gather your personal or commercial information from the disk and then transfer it to pre-defined remote servers. In addition, spyware can secretly track your online activities and browser behaviors for obtaining your login credentials to online bank account or credit card account. You should not miss this aspect when trying to fix computer freezing or suffering from some other errors like serms.dll error or error 80028EA1.

Also, you can re-install any software causing the computer crashing problem. The main cause of errors is going to be through the "software" of your PC. This is basically all the programs that your system will be using to run, and will likely be the fact that a specific application will be causing all the issues your PC may have. The good news is that re-installing any corrupted / damaged software on your computer will allow Windows to run much smoother - which can be done by following these steps:

* Click "Start"

* Locate "Control Panel"

* Click on "Add / Remove Programs"

* Locate the program causing problems

* Click "Remove"

* Restart your PC

What is tall memory?

Any type of memory can be considered "tall" memory. This just relates to the physical dimensions of the memory module. So it is higher from the motherboard than similar memory modules. The main concern here is the heat sink for the CPU. When larger CPU heat sinks are used, they often cover the memory modules, so you would need memory that will fit under the heat sink. If there isn't enough clearance, then you cannot use both that heat sink and the tall memory modules.

Why is backup important?

Backup is getting more and more important because we do have more and more data on our computers, that is not stored anywhere else.

Hard disk can fail, virus can strike, laptop can be stolen, natural event occur... if disaster strike, your data can simply disappear.

This data can have a sentimental value (think about baby photos) or commercial value (think about customer database, or technical documentation, or reports...)

therefore, it's very important to have a backup available in order to restore the data.

A few years ago, The Ponemon Institute, which studies business privacy practices, surveyed 43 U.S. companies across 17 industry sectors that lost data in 2008. According to the study, data losses ranged from 4,200 records to 113,000 records, and each data record lost cost $202-making the total cost between $848,400 and $22,826,000.

There are many ways to create a backup, from manual (burn a DVD once in a while) to fully automated and secure (with services that remotely backup your important folder on a secure server over the internet - such as 77backup.com)

Backup is like insurance, it's a waste of money as long as you have no troubles...

What causes file system errors?

There are many things that can cause file system errors. Often it is just a glitch, the PC hanging at the wrong time, or an abrupt shutdown. Other times, this can be an early sign of a failing hard drive. You should start by using a disk repair tool such as CHKDSK or Scandisk. You can go to My Computer, right click the C Drive, and go to Properties, then to Tools. There is an option to check the system drive there that you can use.

If you have other symptoms like the system sometimes starting to a blue screen or hanging, or the system taking a long time, then you should get the hard drive manufacturer's test utility. It might be able to relocate any endangered data and/or tell you if a crash is imminent. If there are a lot of errors, then you should get a new hard drive, reinstall everything onto it, then copy any and all user data you can from the failing drive.

How do you begin to become a network engineer?

Network engineers are the backbone of the computer infrastructure of a company. Large companies are able to employ many network engineers, while smaller ones often need to hire a consulting group. These engineers update a computer network and fix problems whenever they arise. If you want to become a network engineer, you need a love of computers as well as terrific problem-solving skills. == Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or computer science. == Step 1 Study a computer-related field in college. Despite the name, network engineering doesn't require an engineering degree. You could also study a completely different major and minor in information technology.

Step 2 Get a job at your university's office of information technology. Most large schools hire student IT support to work in both classroom and dorm environments. These jobs generally require 1 to 2 years of computer-related study and are a great way to build your resume.

Step 3 Learn to use all different kinds of operating systems. Most network administration computers use a different operating system than the office computers and company laptops. You'll need to be familiar with all of them in order to become a network engineer.

Step 4 Look for an internship with the IT department of a company or with a computer consulting firm. The number of students majoring in computer-related fields is growing, so you will need experience to help you stand out from the pack.

Step 5 Work on your communication skills. If you become a network engineer, you'll often have to work with people who aren't as tech-savvy as you. You should learn to explain computer problems in straightforward language. Consider taking an acting, improv or speech class to hone your communication skills.
