I dont think eating laundry starch will cause you to gain weight, unless it's gaining weight in the bloated sense.
Because you're consumming laudry starch, its most likely not a good idea because of the chemicals in the starch and of the reaction these chemicals can cause to your abdomonen and gullet. I would sincerly stop eating starch. Have you seen your doctor, therapist of a psychiatrist about this? If not, then please see your doctor who can help you to stop eating laundry starch. Take care.
**This may or may not cause you to gain weight, but it is a sign of a serious iron or zinc deficiency, which can be caused by anemia. Your Dr. needs to treat you for that and you will stop having the craving to eat the laundry starch. But, don't let your Dr. stop there, they need find the cause of the anemia. A link has been found between the craving for things such as the laundry starch, the deficiency in iron/zinc, and anemia, and cancer of the colon and some other cancers. Please set up an appt. with your Dr. and then you won't need to worry about the weight issue, you won't need the laundry starch, you will be getting the correct minerals in your diet.**

The plants themselves are different: corn is much taller, with wider leaves, and the cobs are located right on the side of the stems. Rice, on the other hand, has much narrower leaves, and the seeds are grown from the top of the plant, and have a pattern to them called a Raceme, where the seed head is kind of lacy, not cramped altogether like corn is.

Is raw cornstarch good for you?
No, it is not. Starch contains multiple molecules glucose bonded together in a condensation reaction. This means that water is loss when the glucose is bonded together. In order for your body to utilise the chemcial energy stored in starch, your body has to break it back down to glucose molecules by using enzymes. Stach is broken down to maltose using amylase and maltose is broken down to glucose using maltase. Both processes, however, are hydration reactions. This means that water is used in the process of breaking down starch. Starch consumption is extremely dangerous as consuming large amounts of starch can lead to rapid dehydration of your body. This will cause your cells to crenate and die due to the decrease in its water potential.
