Crayons and Markers

Crayons and markers are often the first writing implement a child ever has their hands on. Both crayons and markers come in a very wide variety of colors and qualities. Some types can be picked up at the local grocery store, and are responsible for the majority of artwork found taped to fridges. Other varieties are of a much higher quality, and are used by commercial artists to create much more complex work.

Why do people have ear wax?

Earwax performs important functions.

  • Your ear produces wax in order to help move out dust and other small particles. It collects dirt and debris in your ear canal and moves it out of your ears where you can wash it off as you wash your face and external ears. Cerumen also helps prevent foreign substances from entering the auditory canal.
  • It forms a layer of protective wax in the ear canal which is a water repelling shield (ear canals need to be dry to be healthy).
  • The wax also is slightly acidic and will not allow the growth of bacteria or fungi.
  • It fights infections as well, with some mild antibacterial components.

Why did they invented crayons?

There are probably many reasons crayons were invented. One of them was to have a color medium that wouldn't rub off the material you used. Prior to what we know of as crayons, encaustic crayons had to be "treated" with a fixitive to keep them permanent. Either that or they had to be contained behind glass. Chalks and paints were messy and required a lot of cleanup. Another key contributor were simply the times we were in when they were created. It was the pre-camera era and the crayon served as a way to create a quick color drawing while out and about whereas colored pencils couldn't always capture the same look as they were constrained to a narrow point. The influx of schools and education were one of the primary drivers for crayons as well. They needed something non-poisenous and easy to use. The blackboard chalk of the day created a lot of dust and even when the dustless varities came along, they required chalkboards. The accessibility of paper contributed to needing a new medium. Finally, industry itself demanded the product. Everything from leather marking to wood and glass needed a marking tool and crayons served a variety of these purposes.

Will Crayola school glue work to apply fake nails?

NO. This type of glue will not adhere to the nail bed, it will just create a huge white paste mess. I would suggest any brand of nail glue from mass retailers or drugstores (Walgreens, CVS, Target, Walmart, etc.) I personally like the kind with a brush instead of just a squeeze bottle-- less bubbles are created when you apply the false nail!
