No. Lady gaga was born in manhattan, and went to a cathloc all girls school growing up. But her background and her parents are from Italy.
Of course and there are. There are people like Anna Vissi, Michalis Hatzigiannis, Kyriacou Pelagia, James Alexandrou, Peter Andre, Tina Charles, Nicky Clarke, Antony Costa, and many other who are famous in Cyprus. Also, there are people who are well known to Cypriots and Greeks but not to others and this is completely unfair because we have great actors, singers, football players, etc, So yes Cyprus has many famous people like all the other countries in this world.

Who started the Turko-Cypriot Conflict?
In 1974 Cyprus was an island nation with a democratically elected government and with a population of citizens of both Greek and Turkish origin. In 1974 the Cypriot National Guard overthrew the democratically elected government of Cyprus. Turkey claimed that the Cypriot National Guard was controlled by a Greek junta and that the governmental overthrow amounted to an "invasion" of Cyprus by Greece. Turkey then 'retaliated' (in support of the overthrown government) by invading Cyprus by land and naval forces which, in turn, brought full scale retaliation from Greece, which did likewise. I suppose it depends on which side you support as to which scenario you subscribe to.
---------------------------------------
However if you look at the BBC reports and go to the National History Library, you would see that the greek cypriots joined Greece in 1953 to try and take over the country.
The English government sent troops the keep the peace but they were also killed by the greek army from Greece who also over threw the priminister of Cyprus in order to take control.
Turkey entered the country to save the Turkish cypriots from being killed and as of today the northen side is still not allowed to trade and fund themselves unless Turkey keeps supporting them.
1963 a document was signed recognising 2 separate states which now the English and greek government ignores.
Was Cyprus bombed during World War 2?

How many stamps would it take to send a regular letter from Florida to Washington?
Just one. It has to be worth 42 cents. That is the rate for first class mail anywhere in the U.S. You can also use any combination of stamps that add up to 42 cents. Stamps come in many denominations from one cent on up. Asking "how many stamps" is like asking "how many coins for a candy bar?" It depends on the value of the coins.
What attracts tourists to Cyprus?
The sun-drenched island of Cyprus has attracted tourists from the days when the Phoenicians reckoned this island of goddesses, wine and safe harbours was a great place to conquer! Both south and North Cyprus have something for every kind of tourist, from the sun-worshipping beach lover to the dedicated sightseer of ancient historical sites. Adventurous types can enjoy everything from scuba diving to paragliding, while those who like to rave until dawn can chill to their heart’s content. Personally, I recommend North Cyprus, because it’s much less developed than the south of the island, yet you can enjoy everything mentioned above - and more! The countryside is breathtaking, the beaches vast and uncrowded, and the prices cheaper. The Turkish Cypriot food is great, the people friendly and eager to speak English, and flights get cheaper by the week. What more do you want! The best web site on North Cyprus by far is http://www.cyprus44.com, packed with information and with links to cheap flights to North Cyprus too!
Why do you have the british army at salt lake in Cyprus?
British Army are in Cyprus to support the conflict in Afghanistan. The army has a reserve battalion ready to be deployed in 48 hrs notice who are the 2 Royal Anglians during Op Herrick 13-14. The airbase. RAF Akrotiri, is a base to 'decompress' the soldiers back from Afghan before they go back to UK. It is a strategic point of logistics between Afghan and UK both soldiers and equipment. The army is also there to protect the listening posts which catches radio frequencies and can listen in like a spying device but on a large scale. They look like large nets and are suspended by two large poles.

When did Richard the Lion-heart invade Cyprus?
In 1191, but he did not really invade it. Part of his fleet (but the part containing his treasure chests) stranded in Cyprus after a storm in 1191 and Cyprus' ruler Isaac Komnenos - following ancient custom - had seized everything in the wrecked ships. This also included Richard's fiancée and his sister who had been travelling on them, although this seemed to concern Richard less at the time.
On learning what had happened, Richard took the rest of his ships to Cyprus and after a friendly meeting with Cyprus' ruler got his money and the ladies back. After that, Isaac Komnenos found to his dismay that Richard showed no eagerness to continue his journey and fight the infidels in the Holy Land but chose to live comfortably off the ruler's hospitality, while his troops harrassed the local population.
Finally Isaac Komnenos got so tired of his unwanted guests that he ordered Richard and his troops off his island. A piqued Richard then reacted by conquering the island in a matter of days.
Why is the island Cyprus so special to Aphrodite?
Cyprus is soo important to aphrodite because that is where she was tooken too after she was born
"Aphrodite was born in one of two possible ways, she is either the daughter of Dione and Zeus or she is the daughter of JUST Uranus. She may just be Uranus's daughter because one day Cronus (Uranus's son) castrated his father on his mothers bidding so he could never impregnate her again. Cronus threw the genitals into the sea and white foam started to form from the foam came a full grown women, Aphrodite. When Aphrodite arose she stood upon a seashell, in most pictures it is depicted as a scallop. As soon as she surfaced the seashell sped her away from her wounded father and to the shores of the island of present day Cyprus."
Did the Cyprus Regiment have a shoulder patch and if so what was it?
The Cyprus Regiment was part of the British Army in WW2. Typically, the British regiments had a regimental cap badge and maybe wore their name on a brass badge or cloth patch on the top of their sleeve. The cap badge was s shield with 2 lions with a scroll underneath it having their name and topped with the King's crown. I'm not sure if they wore a sleeve device.
