The war in Darfur has been going on since early 2003 when rebels took up arms against the government for discriminating non-Arab population in Darfur.

No evidence of US soldiers killed in Darfur. Many peace keepers soldiers from different countries reported to be killed.

That human rights had been violated, but that the conflict was not genocide

Darfur is one of the largest human rights atrocities of modern times, it's kind of like asking why the Holocaust mattered. Nazi Germany was "ethnically cleansed" of Jews, in a very similar way, Darfur is being "ethnically cleansed." People are dying in refugee camps because of disease and lack of food and clean water. Girls as young as 13 are having children out of rape. Normal everyday civilians are being murdered, terrorized, separated from their families, driven from their homes, raped, displaced and starved, if any of that matters to you, Darfur matters to you.

It is a civil WA. That is why when the south and north fought, it was called civil.war...

Darfuris are different from the Janjaweed, or those that are murdering them, just as the Jews are different from the Germans or Nazis. Neither the Dafuris or the Jews have/had a way to save or defend themselves. While the Germans would say that the Jews were going to a nice work camp, the Janjaweed and the Sudanese government paint their bomber planes to mimick those of the UN humanitarian efforts, so that the Darfuris belive that they are going to be saved, not destroyed. I assume the question is asking whether or not the perpetrators of the Darfurian genocide have been held responsible for their crimes. (The wording is awkward.) The answer is NO. The genocide still continues and there has not been a single perpetrator jailed or who has been in front of any judge or tribunal.
