What effects did the war on Americans at home?

That's a question that requires a very long answer, depending on how much detail you want.

The second world war caused hardships everywhere, and Americans had it a lot easier than most, because comparatively little of the war came to U.S. shores. That being said, almost everyone was affected by the rationing. You couldn't buy a new car, you could only drive on certain days, you were required by law to recycle pretty much everything, etc.

Then there also those who were affected by family members getting killed, and there were also Americans that were sent to concentration camps until well after the war ended. Only the some of the very rich were unaffected. Even in those families tragedy struck though, such as the death of JFK's brother.

How much is a B-29 yoke cap worth?

I own one that my father left me. A retired Army Air Corp. officer told me that not many survived the war and that it was a museum quality piece. There was one on Ebay at the time, that had beed used as a ashtray and was badly damaged. If I recall it sold for $800 - $900. I still have mine and it's in very good shape. There are phrases etched on the back of it that I was told were placed there by the factory workers that made it and it was there way of sending a message to our pilots.

What about horror movies of the 1940s and 1950s?

Monsters never stay dead for long, especially when there is money to be made. After surprisingly successful re-releases of Frankenstein and Dracula in 1938, Universal returned to the formula with a vengeance, producing Son of Frankenstein the following year. Throughout the 1940s they recycled their classical monsters in films like Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943), House of Dracula (1945), and eventually even Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948). Producer Val Lewton at RKO created a string of moody psychological horror films like Cat People (1942), I Walked with a Zombie (1943), and The Body Snatcher (1945). After World War II, horror increasingly hybridized with science fiction and began to address fears associated with the Cold War: (alien) invasion from without, subversion from within, and the potentially monstrous effects of nuclear radiation.

In Medal of honor allied assault can you sink a German U boat?

Yes you can. In Trondheim, Norway in early 1943 an SAS agent helping you is killed by German bodyguards and he dies trying to let you into a kriegsmarine base. Guards and watchdogs attack you and you have to steel these plans and enter the kriegsmarine pen and disguise yourself as a German officer. Then you have to destroy a radar and enter a German u boat and kill all the people inside it and plant 2 bombs one in the torpedo room and another in the engine room and you need to get out and escape from the base and jump on a train quickly before it departs. It is a scary level. I use to play this game quiet often. Watch some clips of it on Youtube if you like.

What happened to losing armies in the 1940s?

Generally they were "Demobilized." The Germans, Italians and Japanese turned in their weapons, were interviewed and questioned and for the most part they were then sent home. Those that belonged to certain units, particularly those that ran prisons, were kept longer as the Allies determined whether there were any war crimes associated with the individuals.
