if you said any dodge older than a 2005, I'd go with the duramax, but the trannies in the 05 and up dodges are much better, and you cant beat a cummins for power and reliability.

Yes, if it is a 5.9L V8. The safety neutral switch should be the only thing that is different. If the 2002 is a 4.7L it will not work.

check your fuse box. In my '97 the fuse retainers were loose and no longer kept a tight fit with the fuse causing my truck engine to turn off sometimes while driving or not start at all (not fun in mid turns). Wiggle the fuse around while its running or you're trying to start it and see if this helps. If it does either have the fuse box/part replaced or for a temporary fix shove the next bigger fuse in it.

The most common problem with this system is a broken connector to the blend door. The blend door and axle are metal and the motor drive connector is metal, but in a fit of brilliance Dodge elected to connect these two components together with a plastic connector. When the plastic breaks, the motor will turn past the point where the electronics can sense the position of the door and the motor will appear to be non-functional because the computer shuts it down. An aftermarket replacement for the connector is available. Additional information can be found by going to my bio page.

It is located in the distributer. The part is not sold seporate from the distributer. It is only a dealer item the whole distributer for 450.00$. It is also called the crank angle sensor. Just because the code 0335 comes on on the scan does not mean that the sensor is bad. The best thing to do it take it to a dealer. Actually the one in the distributor is called a camshaft position sensor. You can by rebuilt distributor for around 250.00. The crank shaft position sensor is located on the Transmission housing on the left side.

In order to access it you have to remove the upper radiator hose from the engine.The alternator might have to be loosened a bit for proper work space.Make sure the new one is put in the same position as the old one.A bit of trial and error might be needed but,thats the general area of the thermostat.

The behavior you described is normal operation. The brake cylinder is power assisted by engine vacuum. When the engine is off you don't have vacuum or the power assist. When the engine is started, the pedal will immediately soften up as the vacuum comes online.

I would start by checking vacuum lines

Output Speed Sensor Circuit, That is the two wire sensor on the side of the transmission.

Push on the longest straight run between pulleys. It should give about 1/4-1/2 inches. If you can't push it at all, it's too tense and can break. Too lose and it can fall off the pulley and damage other parts.
