How does vinegar help in absorbing paint odor?

Vinegar is a good odor absorber, especially for cigarette smoke, however, you will have the vinegar smell to contend with. Another suggestion would be to add 1 tablespoon of white vanilla to your latex paint ( this will not work with oil based paint). The vanilla will mask some of the odor and make the paint smell less strong.

Another good odor absorber that doesn't have any smell are charcoal briquettes, just be sure you get the plain ones not the ones that have been treated (Match Lite) with starter fluid. Just place them around the house (works especially well in the basement) in bowls and let them do the work.

How do you get a shiny coat for your dog?

Give the dog a spoon of Salmon Oil in his/her food; also Evening Primrose Oil mixed with its food helps.

Another Answer

You could also try feeding your dog a raw diet. We did it with our dogs and within a week, there coats were not only shiny, but they were healthy and fresh smelling.

Another Answer

Despite this food is well known for cats, oily fish such a pilchards or mackerel has omega 3 and 6 in it and will make it's coat beautiful and shiny.

Also, you can give your dog eggs which also makes the coat shiny.

Another Answer

To help give your dog a shiny coat buy salmon oil or sardine oil for dogs which you can get at most pet stores. Also some foods you might be feeding could be causing a dull coat. Make sure your food already has some type of fish oil or flax seed oil in it.

Another Answer

My dad always drizzles cooking oil over the bowl of dog food and it always makes their coat shiny (our dogs compete).

They shed....a lot. I keep mine between the laundry room and the yard during this time. I keep sweeping good little piles everyday. All dogs shed, some more than others. Although she has a short coat, they all have to get a new one sooner or later. These dogs shed about twice a year.

Should answers that are clearly more appropriate for the Discussion area be cut and pasted there?

Yes. Since this is not a forum and answers are collaborative, if an answer segment is inappropriate as an answer but is more akin to commentary, it should be moved to the discussion. Perhaps it could be prefaced with "Contributor so-and-so had this to say about the answer/question."

What is the end of a dogs bleeding season like?

A female bitch's "season" lasts approx. 3 weeks. She may or maynot start to show signs by secreting blood, but her attitude may change. My females become aggressive, some more than others. They also begin to mount everyone, male or female, prior to their "bleeding". This is the norm for my Chihuahuas. I have 6 females and they all do the same thing. My female Poodle and Dachshund do it as well to some degree. Your dog has a two day window, generally sometime during the second week of heat, to become pregnant. She may want to mate prior to this, and maybe up to a couple of weeks after. This is normal. I watch my female closely and start counting her gestation from the time I observe her first mating. The gestation is 9 weeks. Now I know her due date on my calendar is earlier than her ultimate birth date, but it gives me a "Start to keep an eye on her" date. A female may only actively bleed so as you might notice, for about one week during her heat.

How many times should you brush your teeth?

2 times a day or if you have braces then 3 times a day

Another Answer

Your teeth are tools and when you eat, drink, chew gum and so forth, you dirty these tools.

As with any other precious tool, you should clean them after each use. But at least in the morning and before bed at night. You need to clear away all the sticky substances and bacteria that clings to your teeth during the day and promotes cavities and gum disease. The Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery states: "Combined with flossing, brushing the teeth is the single most important thing that you can do to maintain the health and vitality of your teeth and their supporting tissues."

Turpentine dissolved container I used to clean decorating brushes what should I use?

Answer

Turpentine shouldn't disolve the container, but maybe you had a little laquer thinner, toluene or acetone in the mix? If any of those are in the solvent, you can't use plastic. You will need to use either a metal or glass container. If it's just mineral spirits or turpentine, most plastic containers should be ok.

There are plastic bottles which are specially made to be resistant to turpentine and mineral spirits for artists who paint. You can find them at

Do some dogs have fur that don't set off allergies?

Some dogs cause more problems than others. But, it is not usually the fur or coat that causes the allergic reaction, it is more often the proteins in the dander (dandruff) and in the saliva (and sometimes urine) of the dog. Poodles and poodle mixes are often good choices for allergy sufferers. See the related question below.
