There are alternate SL Viewers that are user created that can be used in place of the official one referenced above. Those could contain viruses.

Alexa is not a virus! The issue is the 'Related Links' feature of IE which appears as the 'Tools'/'Show Related Links' menu item (and a corresponding toolbar button if you added it from the 'Customize...' link on the toolbar). If you use that feature, IE will contact the Alexa servers to obtain information about other web pages which might be, er, related, open an Explorer Bar, and display those (plus adverts and whatnot). Go check the Alexa web site to see if you think that is a good idea (and, just to be clear, I think it's a sucky idea), or just to double-check that you haven't deliberately or unintentionally or absent-mindedly installed some of their software. You can just ignore it or let a program like Adaware or Spybot delete it.

It's all a matter of opinion. I am a Kaspersky user, I've been using them for about four years now and in that four year time span I've only had one virus. I've never personally used nod32, but I have a friend who does and he has had more than just one virus to actually get though. Also in the running for the top spot with these two would be Bit Defender, it seems to be getting just a prestigious and these two Anti Viruses. As I said, personally I am going to suggest Kaspersky.

First you have to make a parent account click parent login and ask your parents to make one then you can manage your account with it ohhh leave comments on where the manage button is im trying to figure this out help .

ok i did it this way and it seemed to have worked.

Press ctrl + alt + del to bring up windows task manager.

look for file DW.EXE in the list

select this then click end process.

now if u have a virus scanner scan it and it should be able to remove it.

or

go to the main search in windows ( in the windows menu)and type in dw.exeu might get a couple up, highlight the dw.exe file that is located in the downloader file press delete and bobs ure uncle hopefully.!!!

explantion : - the reson it couldn't be deleted is because it was running in the backround of windows, by going into talk manager u can see all the programmes that are running, and shut them down selectivly, by doing this u can delete manually or ure virus scanner should be able to at ease!

I too own a 2000 Monte, There is a TSB about reparing the pins at the bcm, but it is more than likely the ignition switch,been there, also there is a tsb to look at the harness that runs next to the ac accumulator for rub through,these are the most common issues

I was infected when I downloaded a small program called FreeCorder to record in mpg format. McAfee didn't recognize it when I was scanning it directly. The free AVG by grisoft found it, but couldn't handle it. I had to format my drive the first time and lose everything.

I have the full version of AVG E-trust antivirus. When detected I did a complete scan and wiped the file. This is the second Trojan horse file in less than a month the last was the Dropper.VB.DD and E-Trust had no problem.. No I don't have any connestion to Grissoft E-Trust. Good luck

Unfortunately, most online antivirus programs CANNOT successfully remove this virus. It attaches itself to the winlogon.exe process, which is required for Windows to run, and so you will need to clean the system in an OFFLINE state.

What does that mean?

It means you're going to need to boot the system off of a recovery CD -- I prefer the "Ultimate Boot CD for Windows" -- and repair the system that way, so that the version of winlogon.exe on the hard drive is not in use, and you can copy in a "clean" one easily.

I found this Trojan through AVG, which identified it. I reasoned that I had to stop the processing of the downloader, so I went to the task manager (ctrl-alt-del) to make the program stop. Then I went to the search function and located the program. Once I found the full location of the program, I opened up the folder and physically searched for the program. When I found the executable program, I removed it. I emptied the trash. I re-scanned the system and found that the Trojan was removed.
