Required Documentation in order to obtain a copy of a transcript or diploma, individuals must:

1) Complete Attachment H (Request for duplicate copy of NYS High School Equivalency Diploma and / or Transcript of GED test scores).

2) Submit a certified check or money order payable to The New York State Education Department.

*$4.00 for copy of transcript only.

*$10.00 for copy of diploma and transcript.

3) Provide appropriate photo identification. (E.G. State issued id or passport, must have photo on ID). If individuals other than the GED test record holder are making a request for a diploma or transcript they must:

*Present a release signed by the record holder granting permission to have a document picked up at the GED window.

The window is located in the New York State Education Building Annex, 89 Washington Avenue in Albany, at the Hawk Street entrance.

The Education Building Annex is part of the government center in downtown Albany that includes the Empire State Plaza, the State Capitol, the Education Building and Annex, and the Alfred E. Smith State Office Building. The main entrance to the Education Building Annex can be found on North Hawk Street opposite Academy Park. Visitors are required to obtain a visitor's badge from the building guard in the lobby.

The streets bordering the Education Building and Annex are restricted by parking meters. Within a two-block radius, there are several privately owned parking garages/lots. If you have a GED with no college credits you will not be able to join because you would be considered a tier II and there are plenty of tier I recruits, so getting accepted is highly unlikely.
