GMC Sierra

To purchase parts for a 1997 GMC Sierra you have a few choices. You can go to any local auto parts store in your area, such as Advance Auto Parts or Napa. You can also contact your local GMC dealership if you want their brand replacement parts. You can also find parts advertise in the newspaper classified ads or even on websites like eBay.

Remove both heads, take them to a reputable machine shop and have the heads "shaved" (milled, machined... whatever they call it in your area) to make them flat again.

Note that when a head overheats it warps sligtly, causing the gasket between the head and the block to blow. Don't even try to replace the gasket without having the head reconditioned.

If the engine is relatively new you won't need to have much done to the valves, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to do the seals if the shop suggests it.

Reassemble the engine using new gaskets, and take care torquing the heads back on, following manufacturers recommendations.

The worst part is removing all of the peripheral jumk that is in the way.

You Don`t You Replace It. Are you sure its not the circuit board that is your problem. Some GM trucks had a recall on the wipers because the circuit board had a fracture on one of the main solder joints. Super easy to fix. Just pull off the cover of the wiper gear/motor/circuit box and take a real close look at the large solder joints. Use a magnifying glass if you have too. Then just bust out the soldering gun, touch up the fracture(small crack) and your golden.

I just checked out my day time running light failure on my silverado and found that the body control module was not sending the feed to the DRL or day time runnig light relay located under the hood fuse box. You can check by pulling the relay and putting a jumper a cross the relay switch contacts. If the day time running lights come on you need to swap that relay with one of the same type. If it still don't work more then likely its the BCM, but check the drl fuse and the fuse that feeds the relay before replaceing the BCM.

There are 2 knock sensors on the 6.0L engine.
Both of them are underneith the INTAKE manifold. You will have to remove the intake to even see them are get to them. alot of work. But theres no other way. Trust me.

No, with a 3" body lift on a 03 sierra you can only clear like 32" or 33" and they'd rub a little bit. Speaking from experience on this one.
