How do you replace door hinge pin bushings on a 1992 GMC sonoma?

First off you need to take off your door panel using the proper tools so as not to destroy any push clips. You than have to disconnect any wiring if your truck has power windows or locks or such. Once this is done you get yourself a hammer a pin punch and a friend to hold the door. Hold punch on bottom door pin and hammer it out, than repeat this step on the top pin. You will than be able to remove the door. Your bushings will be on the hinges themselves. Use your pin punch and hammer to hammer the old bushings out, then hammer the new bushings in. Get your friend to hold the door on again with you and install the hinge pins starting with the top one. Once the door is back on reconnect your wiring in the door should you have any and snap on your door panel again. Book time at a body shop is a little over an hour to do both doors.

That's a big job. You have to remove all the trim, the glove box door the a/c controls, the instrument panel, you must disable the airbags, pry out the defrost grill, remove MANY screws of various lengths, and eventually the dash being hinged at the bottom rolls downward and lifts out of its hinges. If you are doing this to replace the brake vacuum booster, dash removal is not necessary. Just pull the steering column out in that case.
