How do you replace spark plug wires on a 1995 Chevy Cavalier?

The manual does not show or tell how to change the spark plug wires. It's like they purposely left that information out. I am trying to replace the wires on a 1996 cavalier and the ends that connect to the coil packs go through a space in the intake manifold pleneum (Top part of intake).I removed wheel thinking I could reach it through wheel well but can't reach. Possible if raised car high enough off ground could reach. Can't easily get arm through next to firewall to reach. Only other way is to remove the intake manifold. What a hassel just to replace spark plug wires. Wish I could find an easier way. Sorry...I can't believe it's this hard either. Joey(bjobotts)

You may want to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library.

I just replaced the spark plug wires today in a 1996 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 Liter. After saying some choice words about engineers placing the distributor coil at the rear of the engine. I decided to look at it from different angles as mentioned above with removing the wheel and then trying from above between the engine and firewall. I couldn't jack the car up high enough to get underneath. So I drove the car up on ramps and had ample room to manuever under the vehicle. If you enter from the front of the vehicle on your back and slide towards the rear, you will see a hole and through there you will have a direct shot at the distributor. My wife helped me by feeding wires ONE AT A TIME as I unplugged the wire from the distributor coil and let her pull it up and then would feed me a wire and I would plug it in and then so on with the other three. This process took about 20 minutes after, of course, finding the proper way to get at the distributor. Make sure to have a light shining down the space between the firewall and the engine so you can see what you are doing. Make sure to mark the wires before on the old wires and after on the new wires. You do not want to change your firing order! If you do some how unplug two and don't have them marked. The order is easy. Looking at the engine from the front of the vehicle - 1 2 3 4. When you are underneath the vehicle, the numbers are on the distributor. , it saved me about $200 by not going to a mechanic. Not too bad for a couple of hours of getting dirty. Brian
