I have a 1994 Gmc with the 4.3 and I have pulled a pretty big load for a smaller truck. I have pulled up to a couple lawn mowers on a 16ft tandem trailer with ease and the stopping was fair I would do it on a dailey basis but for a most do project I would do it again.
Check for a bad fuel injector jet, a damaged spark plug wire, bad distributor cap contact, or fuel mixture too rich in fuel injection system.

1995 Sonoma.How do you remove the dash cover to expose heater core?
I had to change the core in a 1995 Sonoma PU. I removed the speaker covers to expose two machine screws close to the windshield .Remove the door from Glove compartment.Remove the ashtray so you can work through the hold.Remove the vent covers to expose machine screws from the actual cover of the core. You will need a long flexible extension. Works good if you have a drill motor. Under the dash there are a number of bolts that must be removed. Finally , on each side of the dash, remove the last two bolts. Now, remove the two nuts that hold the steering column up and drop the steering wheel. The dash now needs to be lifted slightly to unhook it off two saddles (one on each side) and slide it gently and just a little toward the seat. You can now reach under it to remove the last few screws off the cover and expose the heater core. You will have to uncouple the two tubes from it under the hood first. There are two clamps that hold the core in place. Remove these and the core will pull out. I found it was handier to have two pieces of wood about 14 inches long to hold the dash up off the floor so I could work under it but look over it. To replace the core, install it first into its cartridge and do up the two straps and then replace the cover for it. After that, its the reverse of taking it off, in no particular order. You will improve your cussing ability and likely lose some skin off your knuckles.Design engineers will go down a long way in your opinion. Don Mostat B.C. Canada
