When you take graphic design in college do you have to present in front of people?

Yes, sometimes you do. Most often (for me anyways) the instructor will critique the project in front of the class, asking you questions throughout.

Be prepared to offer an explanation for every and any part of the design (font, color, layout, images etc).

Do not, however, let the prospect of speaking to a group of people turn you off of graphic design. Most creative people are not comfortable speaking in public (if I can make generalizations) so you'd be in the same boat as most everyone else. It is also good practice for the "real world" after college.

Technique of dragging in computer graphics?

Drag-and-Drop or DnD is the action of clicking on a virtual object and dragging it to a different location or onto another virtual object. In general, it can be used to invoke many kinds of actions, or create various types of associations between two abstract objects.

As a feature, support for drag-and-drop is not found in all software, though it is sometimes a fast and easy-to-learn technique for users to perform tasks. However, the lack of affordances in drag-and-drop implementations means that it not always obvious that an item can be dragged.

The basic sequence involved in drag-and-drop is:

1).Press, and hold down, the button on the mouse or other pointing device, to "grab" the object

2)."Drag" the object/cursor/pointing device to the desired location

3)."Drop" the object by releasing the button.

How can you make your own News-Intro Graphics?

YOUTUBE search the words "NEWS INTRO" ... you'll get all sorts of short clips from all over the world... choose the one you like then download it as a starting point...

HOW TO DOWNLOAD ?? Google "DOWNLOAD YOUTUBE VIDEO"... I like to use KEEPVID.COM

Once downloaded, the Youtube video (which is in FLV - flash video formart), must be converted to WMV... I like to use ZAMZAR.COM

Sounds more complicated than it is... So far, we've downloaded the starting point from our news intro...

Now, we add our own text over the images of spinning globes and flashing lights etc that you've downloaded... Remove the audio and add your own or keep the original...

Voila ! Your own news intro ! As for making your own from scratch... you'll need design software !

Why is the font called font?

"Font" is from the same root as "fountain" and in fact "font" is an archaic word for fountain.

The origin of the usage in type comes from early printing presses that used metal type (set backward, and inked to create a right-reading printed image). An entire set of letters, upper- and lowercase, numerals, symbols, etc. was cast from the same vat--or "font"--of molten metal (lead).

What is product placement?

When you are watching a movie and the main character pours a bowl of "cheerios" or you see a bottle of "Tide" laundry soup in the background. Or when someone in a movie mentions something like "Myspace" or "Youtube". That is product placement.

What is toning in computer graphics?

Toning is adjusting the tint/shade of a color or an image. In Photoshop, this can be done many ways including "Hue/Saturation", "Curves", or even by creating a layer with a color and altering the opacity.

This effect can create more dramatic imagery. It can also add "dating" to an image (like a sepia tone).

What is the history of the 2010 graphic design of the Wyoming quarter?

The outline of the bucking horse and rider represent Wyoming's Wild West heritage. Wyoming was nicknamed the "Equality State" because of its historical role in establishing equal voting rights for women. Wyoming was the first territory to grant "female suffrage" and became the first state in the Nation to allow women to vote, serve on juries and hold public office

How much does product placement cost?

Product Placement can range from absolutely free to $50 million for one film. It just depends on the situation. If a Production Company, Director, or Writer needs to show a brand in a specific scene they may simple just want to use a brand they like themselves, which would cost nothing. (These instances are few and far between for most brands since many of the larger film and TV projects have brands lining up to pay to be in them.)

It also depends on the amount of exposure a project is expected to get. Brands can also expect to pay more depending on whether the product is handled by a star, whether the brand is verbally mentioned, and whether the product is featured "in focus" in the foreground or background. Generally speaking, if it's an unknown webisode on some unknown website, placements won't be worth much if anything at all to a brand. However, if it's a sequel to a film that earned $800 million like "Spiderman 4", a brand should expect to pay millions for good exposure.

The most expensive deals on record were for placement deals with James Bond films. Ford and Aston Martin reportedly paid $50 million to have their cars shown throughout the film. Bond films earn excellent money with placements because of the high tech theme and worldwide appeal of the films.

In many cases, a brand or ad agency pays a product placement firm a yearly retainer fee to read scripts, find fitting projects, arrange deals with producers, and deliver products to sets to be placed. This cost as well can depend on the brand and the desired projects. Cars, shoes, and beverages will be paying more than most due to the competitive advertising markets for their categories. The films that would likely cost the highest would be "Iron Man 2 or 3", the next James Bond film, "Spiderman 4 or 5", and films like this since they will earn huge box office grosses due to their worldwide releases, popularity, and film franchise track record.

What is Intellegent design?

Intelligent design (ID) is the proposition that "certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection." It is a form of creationism and a contemporary adaptation of the traditional teleological argument for the existence of God, presented by its advocates as "an evidence-based scientific theory about life's origins" rather than "a religious-based idea". The leading proponents of intelligent design are associated with the Discovery Institute, a politically conservative think tank, and believe the designer to be the Christian God.

How does a packaging designer use computer?

There's the obvious one: they use Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, QuarkXPress or whatever other programs they like to prepare the graphics for the package. Once they have the graphics, there are a vast number of very specialized programs they use to make the graphic work on a real package. If you're designing a bottle with complex curves and you want to use an "Endura label" (they shrink to fit the bottle's contours; 20-ounce Coke bottles have these labels) there's software to distort the graphic so it looks right on the bottle. There's a program that will make virtual mockups of the package so you can show the customer your work on a computer monitor instead of doing it the old-fashioned way - printing it out on a laser printer and gluing it to a box the same size as yours. There's software that arranges boxes on a printing flat so you use the stock most efficiently, because waste paperboard is expensive and the boxes have to be laid out with the board's grain in mind so they fold properly. And now they've got a program that will show your customer what the new package will look like on a store shelf.

Some of them are...there are guys who do "custom work" meaning they both draw and tattoo, and there are "flash artists" who tattoo well but can't draw. There are also artists who draw great but can't tattoo, and they find work in "production shops"--ones that do a ton of tattoos. The graphic staff draws up the art for the customer, then hands it off to the tattoo staff for execution.
