Why do temperate grasslands get farmed for crops?

Temperate grasslands are ideal for farming crops because they have deep, fertile soil and a moderate climate with distinct seasons that support the growth of a variety of crops. The open grasslands provide large areas of land that can be easily cultivated for agriculture, making them suitable for growing staple crops like wheat, corn, and soybeans. Additionally, the flat terrain of temperate grasslands allows for efficient farming practices such as mechanized agriculture.

What did the native Americans and the Mormons do to the settlers at mountain meadow in 1857?

The settlers at Mountain Meadows were Mormons.

In 1857, the Native Americans and Mormon settlers were trying to defend their territory from the United States government, which had sent 2,500 troops to take over authority in the area. A militia in the area of Mountain Meadows was on high alert, when a group from Arkansas began to travel through the area. They were planning on settling in California. The Arkansas group were attacked over a period of several days and anyone deemed old enough to remember the event was killed. The smallest children were taken in by Mormon families until the US government took custody of them.

Because of a major lack of records, the details of the story, including why the massacre happened, are not really known.

Answer The settlers at Mountain Meadow were massacred. According to Mormon Bishop John D Lee in his book The Confessions of John D Lee, he was the perpetrator of the murder of the 150 non-mormon immigrants. According to Lee he was acting under orders from Brigham Young, the then head of the Mormon church. Others who assisted Lee in the massacre also testified to the orders having come from Young. Twenty years later (in 1877) he was tried, convicted of the massacre and executed by the US Government.

It is thus quite clear from contemporary records of those involved, the conviction of the chief perpetrator by the US Government and the testimony of a number of those involved that the head of the Mormon church ordered this attack, although his motives for so doing were not clear.

Brigham Young died in 1877, the year of the trial and conviction of Bishop Lee.

From the above information, including the record of trial in a court of the US the first answer would appear quite clearly to be an attempt to whitewash this terrible event. It is clearly not the case that there is a "major lack of records". It is also clearly the case that the Mormon Church is aware of these facts, as are apologists for that church, else there would have not been a conviction.
