How do you make a Guy Fawkes?

Typically, you stuff old clothes with something flammable to make a man-like figure, such as straw or newspapers. (In the Paddington Bear stories, Paddington inadvertently used his neighbor's good suit, but since the effigy is burned, use clothing that you no longer want.) The head can be made of paper-mache, material (like a pillow-case), a balloon, or something else head-shaped. A face can be drawn on the head, or a Guy Fawkes mask can be placed over it. (An example of a Guy Fawkes mask can be seen in the movie V for Vendetta.) A conical, 17th century hat might also be placed on the dummy. It's a bit late for this year, but it'll keep. Get a pair of old coveralls & stuff with newspaper, this will do for the legs & body. Shoes & gloves will make hands & feet. If you are going to parade him before cremation get a trolley or some wheels to sit him on (Penny for the guy mr....) A pumpkin will make a good head, covered with a big floppy hat. Get everything in as big a size as you can, but remember all this is going up in flames. Using dads best suit is not a good idea !

Why did Guy Fawkes want to blow up the houses of parliament?

Guy Fawkes was a zealous Catholic, and later served for many years as a soldier gaining considerable expertise with explosives; both of these were crucial to his involvement in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605.

From 1563, legislation evolved which demanded citizens recognise the King as Supreme Governor of the Church. Refusal to submit was punishable by death. The Gunpowder Plot was an attempt by a group of Catholic extremists to assassinate King James I of England, his family, and most of the Protestant aristocracy in one hit by blowing up the Houses of Parliament during the State Opening. Fawkes represented fair authority, righteousness, the good of the people and not the government, and the correct use of power, not corruption.

Quote does the punishment fit the crime?

In Britain, punishments certainly do not fit the crimes, many of our laws are outdated, and many sentences are too lenient. Petty crimes often incurr heavy sentences, whilst serious crimes incurr too light a sentence. The reason our prisons are overcrowded, is that there are not enough deterrents in place, and most people know, that our punishment laws are very much a "soft touch".

Who was Guy Fawkes?

Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament by sneaking in lots of gunpowder
That's how you put it basically. Guy Fawkes wanted to practise Roman Catholic procedures but wasn't allowed under King James VI rule. So to try and "teach them a lesson" he decided, along with others, to blow up all the government officials, King James and his family. All of these people would be in the House of Parliament on the 5th of November for the legislature ( to change the laws that need to be changed) and they thought that day would be perfect. They piled ten tons of gunpowder into the cellar of the House Of Parliament.

Unfortunately, they had sent an anonymous letter to a old friend, Lord Monteagle, telling him to stay away from the House of Parliament on the 5th of November. Lord Monteagle became suspicious and handed the note to the police. They decided to do a full search of the building and in the early morning of the 5th of November, they discovered all the gunpowder. So they didn't alert the conspirators, they left all the gunpowder there and waited for a conspirator to go down there so then they could find out who was behind it and what they were planning to do. Guy Fawkes was the caught as he was about to light the gunpowder. they arrested him and discovered nearly all the other conspirators. Only one man escaped and was never found.

Those that were found were held until 31st January 1606 when they were put on trial and charged with treason, punishable by being hung, drawn and quartered. Meaning that they were hung until the were dead then they pulled out their entrails before slicing their bodies into quarters often to be sent to the four corners of the land as examples with the head displayed locally. Guy Fawkes day is now celebrated every year on the 5th of November by many fireworks being lit. It is mainly only celebrated in British countries or countries recently become independent from Britain for example Australia and New Zealand.
He is a man who tried to blow up parliament in 1605 on the 5th of November, he almost succeeded but the morning he was going to do it he was caught. He was hung early the next year. Guy Forks day is celebrated in different parts of the world on the 5th of November every year. The film 'V for Vendetta' is based on this. Good film!

What causes subwoofers to blow up?

the reasons a subwoofer blows is the amount of power running through the speaker is greater than the speakers RMS, or peak power. the cause for this could be the amplifiers power is set higher than what the speaker could handle, because certain amplifiers run too much wattage for speakers with only 2 ohms, for instance. You can also blow subwoofers having set your volume too high, then turning the stereo system off completely. when you turn it back on, it causes the voice coils to spring harshly, blowing the inside. you know a speaker is blown when you play music through it, it sounds like a bag of coins rattling when it performs.

Who caught Guy Fawkes?

Sir Thomas Knyvett, the MP for Westminster and his close friend Edmund Doubleday discovered Guy Fawkes in the basement of the House of Lords. They challenged Fawkes and attempted to search him when Fawkes attacked Doubleday. Doubleday and Knyvett managed to fend off Fawke's attack and they then proceeded to arrest and search him.

Why did catholics wanted to kill the James 1?

The King and Parliament in particular were making it clear to non-conforming Catholics that a return of the Roman Catholic Church to England as the state religion was never going to be a possibility.

The plot to kill James was as much about him as it was about Parliament which if it had blown up would have killed the kings relatives, the Privy Counsel, the Protestant Aristocracy, all the Bishops of the Church of England and judges of the legal system.

In total the whole of the Protestant State.

The plotters intended to install the Kings daughter as a puppet Queen and return the Church to Rome.

Why did Robert Cecil help Guy Fawkes with the gunpowder plot?

There are numerous theories by different contributors detailed below:

Robert Cecil framed Guy Fawkes (some people believe). All gunpowder was controlled by the government and kept in the tower of London so they must have got permission off the king to buy it, that was very hard. also the cellar was owned by the government and became available with enough time to prepare. Cecil must have planned this.

The plot was set up by the government so they had a reason to punish some catholics.

It took 8 days of torture after he was captured for Fawkes to reveal the other plotters names, but the plotters were captured at Holbeach house only TWO days after Fawkes was captured. Cecil was part of the plot as he rented the cellar for the plotters, was in charge of the paper work for supplies of gun powder, and the records of that year went missing. He knew where the plotters were taking refuge and captured them early. The only one who wasn't captured that day was Francis Tresham. But he was taken in later, but died suddenly in his cellar at the tower of London before he was questioned.

Who had access to the tower of London? Cecil did. Who was the framer? Cecil. Who definitely didn't want to get found out by the king that he was part of a plot that planned to blow his Highness up? Cecil. He obviously killed Tresham before the guy could spill the beans. Cecil did the same to his friend he rented the cellar off, Thomas Whynniard. Whynniard died suddenly on the morning the plot was supposed to take place.

Another fact is that When Fawkes was down in the cellar, two guards came down and asked for his name, Fawkes said his name was John Johnson, and wasn't arrested... who cares what his name is! the guards didn't know they were looking for a dude named Guy Fawkes, didn't they spot the 36 barrels of gunpowder behind him? Or were they just sent down there to make sure every thing was set up?
