# The Qin Dynasty built the Great Wall of China which defended China from the invadees from the north for thousands of years. # He unified the currency which facilitated trade. # He Unified the language so that communication in China became much easier.

The reaction to the Chinese being invaded by Japanese soldiers is complicated because there is a long history between the two nations. The Chinese did try to resist but when they did the Japanese murdered the civilians and some military. The Chinese were able to secure help from the United States. American pilots came to help shoot down the Japanese. They also helped with the Burma road construction engineering. See related link below.

Almost all powerful Western countries and Japan colonized some areas in China (total around 5-10% of China's areas, but those areas are the best and most important lands, cities and seaports). Each country colonized a small region in China. Some regions are very large though like Manchurian provinces colonized by Russia and later by Japan after a serious war between Russia and Japan. Britain colonized Hong Kong and Canton area and some area in Shanghai. Germany colonized Ching Tsao area. Dutch invaded and colonized Taiwan. Portugal colonized Macau. France took Vietnam and some other areas in China. During Qing Dynasty, Manchu Chinese controlled the Government of China. Manchu Chinese badly managed the country. So, Han Chinese, the majority of China and the cultural big boss of China, waked up from a long, nice and peaceful sleep. Now, Han Chineses controlled the Government and it is totally a different phenomenon. However, because of Western countries continual support of separation of China until today, China was split into pieces. Outer Mongolia went into independence with the support of USSR. North East and North West regions of China were occupied and controlled by Russia til today. Just these 2 areas are about one third the area of China now! China now is facing another intention to separate Tibet with foreign aids from Western countries. China is pity! China was too big and wealthy that it attracted too many ants to eat it!

the mongols were different from the Chinese in many ways the had their own language laws and customs this kept them separate from Chinese society the mongols were rulers at the top of Chinese society, but they did not mix with the Chinese people

As authentic Chinese man, I think the one-child policy taken by the Chinese Central Government has more advantages than disadvantages, though it's not carried out completed in some rural areas of China.

I have to admit that the policy do help China a lot both in economy development and social development.

Because the silk road was long streching from China to the middle east with many different kinds of people traveling along it trading not only their trinkets but their ideas, religion and customs.

It isn't any more difficult to govern in China than any other country. In fact, because of totalitarian nature of the government, it is easier.

Mao Zedong came to power in China in 1949 after a bloody civil war between himself, leader of the Communist Party, and Chiang Kai-Shek, leader of the real Chinese government (the Nationalists).

During WWII, Chiang Kai-Shek was preoccupied with Japanse agression and the Communist under Mao Zedong started to build up their strengh in north China. They did this by carrying out a "mass line" policy (from the masses to the masses), cutting land rents, and spreading out the lands of the wealthy landlords to peasants.

As WWII started to end, the world started to see that the Communist in China were actually making some changes in China... for the BETTER and perhaps war would not break out if the USA stayed neutral. However, the inevitable did happen and by 1946 full scale war between the Nationalists and the Communists was happening. Peasants ran towards Zedong and the PLA (People's Liberation Army) for promised land and social justice while the middle class, shunned by Chiang Kai-Shek because of his governments' inability to stop economic inflation, did so too.

In react to the war in China, President Truman sent General George C. Marshall (yes, the creator of the Marshall Plan) to China in hope to stop the Communist and reinstate the Nationalists.
