When a baby is born at 18 weeks and the baby is dead how long should baby stay with mom?

The baby should remain with the mom until she is comfortable letting him or her go. This is the mother's only chance to hold, snuggle and look at her child. She may want to bathe the baby and dress him or wrap him in blankets. She may want photos taken or she may want her baby baptized. This should not be rushed and a grief counselor maybe needed to help the parents through this tragic event.

Does labor begin before or after your water breaks?

First you lose the mucus plug, which could be 48 hours or so before the baby comes. Next your water breaks, then labor begins. However, it is hard to say for each woman when contractions will begin. Many women have Braxton-Hicks contractions, or "false labor" ahead of true labor.

Why am i having few contractions at 5cm dilated and 50 effaced?

The baby probably isn't ready yet. Where I went to the hospital if you were 5cm dialated they would keep you and induce labor. you can be zero dilated and be in labor. As soon as your muscles start contracting you are in labor and have pains.

How do you self induce labor at 42 weeks?

There are lots of different ideas about this- try nipple stimulation as this releases oxytocin, a hormone that causes uterus contractions. Another way is to have sex, because this may also release oxytocin and possibly the prostaglandins in semen may make the cervix soften and dilate. There is a massage spot on your ankles or feet, but I don't know where exactly-it is suppose to help start contractions. There are some herbal teas, too, but again, I don't remember which ones-you should be able to look these things up. Hope this helps. I agree, sexual intercourse and nipple stimulation have been found to be effective in stimulating labour. I was watching a TV programme just this morning where a reflexologist was helping a woman in labour, though I think this is more effective once labour has started. However don't worry about medical induction as I was induced with both my pregnancies and first time round (at term) I had a four hour labour, and second time (36 weeks, pre-eclampsia and twins) I had a 1 and a half hour labour. I bet by the time you read this you will already have had your baby.

What risks exist in doing an induction of labor?

Once labor has been induced, the unborn baby is monitored to guard against a reduction in its oxygen supply, or hypoxia. The drugs used to induce labor cause vasoconstriction, which can.

What is the safest way to clear a jammed pistol?

The quickest, safest, and overall best method of clearing a jam is the "tap/rack" method. This is done by slapping the bottom of the magazine to insure that it is properly seated (tap), and then racking the slide which will remove any stovepiped or otherwise improperly ejected casings (rack). This will clear most failure to fires such as bad primers.

If the weapon is still jammed after this, it is probably because the ejector failed to grip the spent casing. Lock the slide back, remove the magazine, then rack the slide 4 to 5 times with force.

If both of these techniques do not clear the jam, it is most likely a problem with the guns internal workings, which might require part replacing or repair.

What are the labor signs in giving birth?

The breaking of the water and contractions are two common signs that a woman is in labor. Some of these symptoms are can occur weeks before the birth (especially the shortness of breath) if it is the woman's first child

How can you induce labor if you're 37 weeks 2 days and 3 cm dilated 40 effaced and the baby's head is sitting at -2 right on your cervix and you literally are bowlegged with his head?

You can try nipple stimulation and raspberry leaf tea, but don't worry it will happen eventually. If he is at -2 he is not sitting directly on your cervix but is farther up in your uterus. The bowlegged feeling is normal at the end of a pregnancy from the dilation of your cervix and the stretching of the ligaments, so don't worry he's not really right between your legs!

1cm and 50 at 39 weeks could I try something to induce labor on my own?

I tired Maternity Acupressure, it worked like a charm, check out this website for more information and to get the ebook, btw, well worth the cost (i think it was about $29)

http://yourmaternityresource.com/category/maternityacupreesure/

It also helped with the pain during contractions and my labor only lasted for 10 hours, not too bad for a first time mom. btw I was 41 weeks pregnant, they baby had not dropped yet and I was only about a cm dilated, took about 24 hours to work following the techniques in the book.

I suppose that this is not true; but MgSO4 may be used as a sedative.

What are the four types of labor?

Types? Do you mean stages? If you mean stages, its first, second, and third. First stage is early labor, second stage is active labor (the stage where the baby comes out) and third stage is when the placenta is delivered. Then there's false labor, which can seem like early labor but fizzles out before it progresses into anything.

Does casrol oil make you go into labor faster?

Many "old wives" swear by it. I have had several medical proffessionals tell me that it does nothing except give you horrible diarhea. My feeling is that even if it did work (or you just coincidentally go into labour right after taking it) do you really want to be dealing with loose bowels and labour and lack of privacy all at the same time? It probably is effective because I had a stomach flu at 40 weeks with my last child. The stomach cramps associated with the flu did put me into labour but at what price?

How long does it take for you to go into labor and it's your fifth baby?

We don't have crystal balls here so it's impossible to tell. Every woman wants to know how long it will take etc but you can never foretell these things. It's individual based on your body, how the baby handles labor and every birth is unique.

I'm 36 wks. I took 4oz of castor oil last night at 930 it's been 12 hours. I was on the toilet all night but no contractions. is there a chance it will still work how long before i go in labor?

Although there is little scientific, peer-reviewed data to support the claim that castor oil can hasten the onset of labor, there is plenty of anecdotal information that it does. Many childbirth professionals attest to its efficacy. However, inducing labor is not something to do before week 40. I understand that you want to get the show on the road, but you're rushing things.
