Behind the passenger seat there is a trunk release lever. Pull it straight out to unlock the trunk. (This is for a roadster)

Presuming this is on an early xj40, the brakes system operates at very high pressure as it also operates the self leveling suspension.

Low pressure could be caused by faulty accumulator, esp if accompanied by ticking sound from start up as the pump tries to build pressure.

It should clear by pressing the `clear` button on the computer, but will reappear if problem persists.

Generally, not much to worry about but due to the safety critical nature i would seek a professional opinion immediately.

The light comes on when the transmission goes into the "limp home mode". The transmission uses only third gear. It is not a good idea to drive in this mode for any lengith of time. A common potential fix is to check the electrical plug connection on the left (drivers) side of the transmission. The connector has several pins make sure this is connected securly for some this corrects the problem. If this does not correct the problem then have a Jaguar Dealer connect their diognostic machine to get the fault codes. Good luck. Mike

it is most likely the fuse. I have a 1984 jaguar xj6 and i have had the same problem, my fix for it was that the fuse box was messed up and a lot of the fuses have to be half out to work. Just try testing the fuses and moving them around a bit to see if that will re-connect the instruments.

Simple, you have a fuse burnt out. Buy a Haynes book they're 20 bucks. With the car running shut it off with out shutting off the display hit the VCM button and it will help you narrow down which side of the car to look for or if you want check both sides for a burned out fuse. It happens with age...

I own a 91' XJ6 also and i believe when that code comes up it is as simple as your gas cap not being on all the way

The Door handles on all Jaguar XJ6 models were designed by a moron, or group of morons. They are all made of pot metal and have a weak spot at the pivot point that pushes on the linkage that goes to the door latch. Eventually, your door handle will break and it will need to be replaced. I manufactured my own door handle and made it from a solid steel bracket that I bought from Home Depot. I cut the bracket to shape, and then cut the face of the old door handle off of the original brackets. Then I used JB Weld to attach the face of the original handle to my new steel bracket. From the outside you can't tell any difference, and my new handle will never fail again. Your only other choice is to find a used handle, which will cost you about $100.00 and will be just as crappy as the original. If You have a Pick-n-Pull near you, you can check their web site for your model year. They will only charge you about $10.00 for a used handle. Go to http://www.picknpull.com/check_inventory.aspx and check for a yard near you, and their inventory.

This just happened to me. open the "bonnet" of the car, and on the passenger side, closest to the dashboard, there is a "positive" point, with a black rubber cover, where you can place the positive end of the jumper cable and attach the negative to any part of the car. Once you give it a little juice, the trunk can be opened, and you can then get the battery charged the normal way.

It took us two weeks to figure this out. LOL

Step 1.... Make sure you have the security code to your radio. Step 2.... Disconnect the Neg Battery connection. Step 3.... Grasp the mirror stem at its base, and rotate CLOCKWISE approximately 1/4 of a turn. Carefully and slowly disconnect small wire connector from base of mirror connector. DO NOT allow mirror to hang by these wires as they are EXTREMELY fragile and replacement is a @#)*^%^%$#! Step 4.... Match your replacement by WIRE Color and not CONNECTOR Color. Step 5.... Replacement is reverse of above. Step 6.... Reconnect Battery. Step 7.... Enter Radio Security Code. Step 8.... Read warranty disclaimer that says "do not expose the LCD assembly to vibration or temperature extremes" and plan an appropriate travel route avoiding all bumps and weather changes.

Push the spring and pull the cylinder out

I'm not too sure if this covers the 1996 model, but the manual was published in 1997. I believe this should help out some.

1991 jaguar jx6 will not start

if it is leaking (green) hydraulic fluid, you have to fix the leak issue, since the brakes are tied into the hydraulic system on that year's model.

You will find a complete listing under the engine bay hood on the RHS by the wheel arch. There is a long black lid were you can keep small tools etc. just lift that lid and you will find the location of all the fuses listed there.. Since the 1997 has multiple fuse boxes it will indicated which box it is located in and which fuse and amps

There are several ways, one you could try turning the car on and off, many times this will cure it. If it doesn't, drive the car around for a bit and so long as the problem that caused it to go into limp mode disappears then when you turn the car off and on once again, limp mode will also disappear. The last resort is a hard reset. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and touch it to the positive terminal and this will reset and clear the code.

corroded seal in caliper - leaking break fluid. if you dot3 break fluid, you ruined the seals, the jag needs dot4 or dot 5.

The easiest and simple way is to go to your local auto parts store belonging to one of the national chains and there you will find the electrical section where the bulbs are displayed a reference book where you can look up the bulb number under the mfg/make, year and model. It will list it there
