Where is the crank sensor on a jaguar x300 aj16?
On the front of the engine below the radiator top hose - VERY fiddly to get at but achievable
How do you add mineral oil to the power booster on a 1988 jaguar xj6?
You will need a special filler tube. The filler tube comes with the container of mineral oil purchased from a Jaguar dealership. I got lucky and was able to acquire the special part from my local mechanic instead of a dealer.
Near the right front nose of the car (with the hood open), you will find the mineral oil reservoir. On the top of the reservoir, you will find a dust cap. Thoroughly clean this area - making certain that nothing foreign (i.e. dirt) would be able to fall into the reservoir and contaminate the system.
Remove the dust cap then insert the special filler tube into the top of the reservoir. You will need to give the filler tube nozzle about a quarter turn - locking it into place. You may then pour-in the mineral oil. There should be a clear "indicator window" on the reservoir. You know you have added enough mineral oil to the vehicle when the indicator turns green.
Disconnect the filler tube nozzle and re-install the dust cap.
When you are done, do not throw the container (or more specifically the filler tube nozzle) away. The next time you need mineral oil, you can purchase mineral oil from somewhere other than Jaguar (I use Castrol Mineral Oil). By reusing the Jaguar brand container / nozzle, you can save yourself a trip to the Jag dealership and, thus, some money!
I suggest that you keep-up with this maintenance and if you get a low brake pressure indicator, get yourself some mineral oil immediately. I kept putting this off on my XJ6 and found myself a hundred miles from home with only about 10% braking capability (and without my special filler tube)!
I hope that helps!

How do you reset engine code jaguar xj6?
Depends on the year - earlier models will reset just by disconnecting the battery
From 1995 onwards you will need to use an "OBD11" reader which inserts into a socket/plug located under the driver side instrument panel.. You can then run through the test sequence and display the fault code/s . Then you can reset. You can find a reader at many auto part stores. They can range in price from inexpensive to very expensive. You should check at Harbor Freight stores if you have one. they sell an inexpensive model that will do the trick.
Where is the alternator located on a 1990 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign?
It should be on the bottom driver's side. I have to pull one tonight at 5PM EST. Yesterday I took the bottom tensioner arm off. When we saw how difficult (and no space either) it would be to get it out, we decided to go online and see if there's an easier way. As it stands now we are going back in tonight and will have to loosen the pinion arm to get it out. I'll keep you posted on our progress.

I have a 95 Xj6 and I found this anwer:
"go to electrical accessorie supply sockets on left fender well beside small fuse box or on firewall beside hood latch on each side pull off rubber boot for access hook up posititivie jumper cable and find ground for negetive cable only leave hooked up for a few seconds to pop trunk push trunk button and remove cables (pg 98 of vehicle care book)".
Before finding this question, a mechanic told me that there was a place in the engine where you can hook up the positive cable to and then ground to the engine. Well, it looks like he is right. Best of luck.
How do you replace oil sending unit for 1993 jaguar xj6?
First of all, you need to make way from the driver side of the car so as to access the area just forward of the Throttle Linkage, remove anything that you can to give you more room, everything can be done from on top. Their is a special tool. You can make it like I did, get a 3/4 " combo wrench, heat and bend it about 2 " from open end of wrench to a 90 degree angle. On the box end end weld a very large (1 1/4 or so ) socket over the boxed end so that you can put a Breaker Bar 1/2 drive wrench on the socket. The replacement unit is 18 mm but the 3/4 will work to put the new one on.
How do you turn off valet mode on 1997 jguar xj6?
The Valet switch is located in the center console storage bin. If you have tried that and you still find that the trunk will not open with the fob or you need to use the key every time to open it you may have a problem in the wiring harness. It is very common in the X300 series jaguar, The wiring harness snakes under the RHS trunk hinge and a break may occur here causing the trunk not to open when you press the fob or the internal trunk switch.

Where is the wiper motor relay on a 1997 jaguar xj6?
There are two wiper relays for the wiper motor. One is on/off and the other is fast/slow. They are located behind the left (drivers side) headlight assembly under a plastic flap which is held in place by two screws. There is a set of four side by side and a set of two in front of the four. The wiper relays are the left hand two of the set of four when you are facing towards the front of the car ie the outside two of the four. The outer one is on/off and the inner one is fast/slow.

How do you remove the radio from a 1984 Jaguar XJ6?
Inasmuch the installation is similar to the one found on my XJ6 86, this is very simple: - gently pull off both air conditioning knobs. If just pulling them off by hand does not work, use any tool allowing you to exert a gentle pull from behind the knob. The key here is to pull simultaneously from two diametrically opposed points. Otherwise, the inside part of the knob will break. Not much strength should be required, but again, take the time to find or imagine an adequate tool. Sorry I cannot name one. Remove the plastic bezel. - Once you have done that, you will see that the radio is held in place by two nuts with two opposed slots. There probably exists a tool to unscrew them but for lack of having one, I finally manage to use a pair of scissors, half way open, insert the two sharp ends into the slots. This is not exactly high tech but I managed. If the nuts resist this approach, then asking your nearest sympathetic profesionnal ... - Now, you can pull on the radio and access the wires. Unplug the antenn, unscrew the earth wire and disconnect the two plastic connectors. You are done. Of course, having the right tools make the job a picnic, but who has them all? Regards

How do you install a new radio on a 1993 jaguar xj6?
The question does not give enough information. If you want to install an aftermarket radio then I suggest you take it to a store who sells and installs aftermarket radios. The reason being the plug that Jaguar uses and that is pluged into the OEM radio has roughly 14 pins in it and a installer probibly has a connector which you will need to connect the cable to the aftermarket radio. On the other hand if you are installing a OEM Jaguar replacement, which would be my choice (Keep Jaguar, Jaguar) the removel and install of the OEM radio is easy. 1. Apply the emergency brake and place the shift lever in reverse (engine off) then go to #2 2. Disconnect the battery before you do make sure you have the radio code if your radio has one. 3. Open the center counsol and remove the two screws that hold in the ashtray in then close the ashtray lid you need to in order to remove lift the ash tray out and disconnect the connectors to the cigarette lighter. 4.Next you need to remove the trim on the gearshift With a thin and I mean thin screw driver gently pry between the shifter and trim ring at the 10 oclock 2 oclock and 6 oclock positions to release the trim ring remove the trim ring and unscrew the shifter knob and remove. 5. where the ashtray was attached to to the center counsol (the ski slope) reach udeneith and find two large plastic wing nuts remove them. Now the center piece can be removed. 6. The climate control, clock and radio are held in by a plastic frame held to the counsol by six screws remove them and gently remove the frame. I said gently because you dont want to break the frame. Its almost impossible o find a replacement for it. 7. Disconnect the connecting cables and remove the radio from the frame 8. Installation is just the reverse of the removel. Hope this helps Mike

1985 Jaguar XJ6 no headlights?
== == well first check the fuse and connections ( check all the simple and stupid things first). Do you have absolutely no head lights or just some on high beams and some on low ? because if you do there is a good chance that you have burned out just part of one head lamp. because headlights have a separate high and low part of the bulb. witch would means you can have no highs, but have working lows.

How do you change the ignition cylinder on a 1990 xj6 soverenge?
Not easy unless you have the key.
If you do, turn it to the accessory position and depress the pin at 1 o'clock on top of the cylinder body. Pull, and the cylinder should pull out of the body.
If you don't have the key, you'll have to remove the entire the entire cylinder body, then cut the cylinder out of the body by any means necessary.
Try turning the key to the left a couple of times on the passager side door until you hear the lock release on the trunk you should be able to use the switch in the back there by opening the trunk
