To drain the transmission fluid from a Jaguar XJS, start by ensuring the vehicle is on a level surface and secure it with jack stands. Remove the transmission pan bolts, carefully lowering the pan to let the old fluid drain into a container. Once drained, clean the pan and replace the filter if necessary before reassembling the pan and adding new fluid through the dipstick tube. The gas tank for a 1990 Jaguar XJS is located at the rear of the vehicle, just behind the rear axle. To access the fuel filler neck, you will find the fuel cap on the right side of the car, near the rear quarter panel. The tank itself is mounted underneath the trunk floor, requiring some disassembly of the trunk area for full access.

The starter is very difficult to get to, is very heavy and unless you are used to working on cars, take it to a dealer. But if you want to have a look, it is situated at the bottom right hand side (or left hand side if you stand in front of the engine facing the car) of the engine and the only way to reach it is by laying underneath the car. Taking it out is probably one of the most difficult projects on this car.

The first thing you should do is loosen the four nuts bolting the seat to the car. Then you can tilt the seat back and disconnect the wire harness from the motor, and finally manuever the seat out of the car. Installation is the reverse.

Manual lever is located by license plate lights, turn key to unlock position and press chrome lever up.

It's in the trunk behind the spare inside the tank.

I had a similar problem. The trunk latch on the way out, the micro switch wasn't closing and the trunk light was staying on. The design of the trunk latch is pony (plastic hook) - hence the "do not slam" warning tag. This may not be you problem but it's a good place to start.

Under the battery in the boot/trunk. Later cars had the pump inside the fuel tank, on the top in the middle.

Mine was hard to find. Eventually I found it under the steering wheel by moving the entire fascia panel under there.

Other XJ-S owners lead me to believe that the car's previous owner had done this as a custom job.

They are supposed to be replaced every 60,000 miles and are located underneath the chassis by the catalytic converters

I have a Jaguar XJS 1993 model. A light on the dash has come on saying 'check engine'. Using the hadbook procedure the faull FF44 has appeared. I believe the FF stands for Fueling Fault but I do not know what the 44 means

Disconnect the battery and then reconnect.

i think you will find this relates to the engine coolant sensor out of range
