How do you read the ac fault codes of a jeep grand chrerokee 2000?
With a scan tool.
Using a scan tool is one way to get the HVAC system fault codes.
In the 99/04 Jeep Grand Cherokees, you can also read the fault codes from the dashboard heater control module without a scan tool.
To read the fault codes from the dashboard heater control module:
1. Turn on the ignition switch.
2. Turn on the AZC system. The temperature settings should be displayed for both sides.
3. Simultaneously hold down the AC and the Re-Circ buttons.
4. Then turn the driver's side temperature (Left) control knob to the right (CW) one click.
5. Then release the AC and Re-Circ buttons.
If there are no fault codes, the "00" display value will remain in the window.
If there are any codes, each will be displayed for one second in ascending numerical sequence (note: no effort is made to display faults in the order they occurred). The left side set temperature display will be blanked and the right side set temperature display will indicate current and historical codes (8 historical max) presently active.
Once all codes have been displayed, the system will repeat the fault code numbers. This will continue until the left side set temperature control is moved at least one detent position in either direction, by pressing both the A/C and Recirc buttons at the same time, or the ignition is turned off.

sounds like you blew a (some) fusible link in the light circuit. Check the harnesses to see if the wires are chaffed or shorted. Bottom line is you let the smoke out and its bad (just kidding). Hopefully you will find something in that order, good luck.....................Mike I concur. I would say with 90% certainty that if you look at your fusable links you will find one that has burned out. In my own experience (with a '90 Cherokee Laredo) I discovered one night that I had no lights whatsoever except turn signals and dome light. After thoroughly checking the fuses, I "accidentally" discovered that a fusable link (under the hood on the passenger's side, about a foot from the battery) had completely fried--the insulation had even melted totally off the wiring. Unfortunately, if yours is the same one as mine, you'll be looking at junk yards to try to replace it--I had no luck finding a new one (and I sure wasn't going to the dealership!) Best of luck. Water on the floor that is not coming from the heater core is coming either from rain water leaking around a windshield seal or one of the firewall seals where hoses, wires or other components enter from the engine compartment.
A; If this happened after a over "Rev" situation ( where the engine RPM went too high ). Replace the bend push rods, if the engine still missfire do a cyl blowby check, If there is leaking valves remove the cyl head and check for bent valves, If it was not reved too high, remove the cyl head and do the clearance of the valve guides. On some engines they tend to slowly build up carbon and cause the valve to stick specially in the decellerating mode. After the engine cool down the valves will seem to be loose again. Clean the lifters and put them back after the head has being done. Frik
When should the timing chain on a jeep 2.5L engine be replaced?
It's debatable when the a chain and gears need to be replaced on these I4 and I6's. There are several thing to consider. If you have a 4 or 6 cylinder (the 6 tends to be stronger longer), if you off road in it (at all) and also how many "hard" miles you have on it. If you have 250,000 miles on it, but only drive it to the store and back at 35 mph, that set will probably last forever. If you have over-sized tires and have been off-roading for the same 250,000 Miles, you probably should have changed them 150,000 miles ago... But to answer your question, changing them at 150,000 miles seems to be pretty routine. My 2.5L has 170,000 on it and it needs one bad, and plan to change my timing set next week.
ALSO!!! Get an Pan gasket too, because you have to remove the pan to get to the chain tensioner bolts.
Gear set, gasket sets and oil your looking at about $200 in parts; and for amateurs like me, a nice uninterrupted 18hours to do it; correctly.
BTW: Look on Ebay for the Gear set, the Zone had the best deals on gasket sets, Advanced have the best oil w/ Filter deals, and the best part... they all take Paypal! Hope this helps.

The fuel pump is located in a unit inside the fuel tank. It is called a "fuel module" which contains the pump, sending unit, float etc allin one unit. The fuel has to be removed, the fuel tank dropped, and the entire module has to be replaced. I had mine replaced on a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 and it cost aboput $800.
