How do you take the doors off a 2005 jeep wrangler sport?

I have a 99 sport and the doors should be the same. Just remove the nuts on threaded studs and lift up. If the doors have never been removed this may require two people, but they will lift up. The nuts do not need to be put back on. The doors will stay just fine without them and makes removing again a snap!

Where is the heater core located on a 2000 Jeep Wrangler?

How do the rear brake springs go on a 1994 jeep wrangler?

Front goes into the frame mounts, back has shackles.

Match up the bushing sizes with the old one as I believe the larger of the two goes in front.

Rear end mounts over the spring so keep that in mind when setting it up.

Will a CJ7 hard top fit on a 1998 wrangler?

No. The Wrangler has several changes, windshield width, body width, etc.

Will the 2012 Jeep Wrangler have the pentastar engine?

Yes. Sergio Marchionne, Fiat's boss, announced that in late 2010. The better news is that this engine has already been tested and put in the 2011 Grand Cherokee, so any "bugs" will already be worked out before it gets into the Wrangler. The performance difference is amazing. The current V6 in the Wrangler rates at 202 hp, whereas the Pentastar V6 will have a much higher rating. It's capable of 275 to 305 hp, so even on the low-end, it would be considerably higher. Plus this engine is quieter and gets better gas mileage than the older engine. This should improve the sales of an already successful vehicle for Chrysler.

How do you replace a soft top to hard top 2003 jeep wrangler?

TJ's are probably the easiest, remove the soft top completely, ( unbuckle top from windshield rail, and remove bows from rollbar with torx wrench ) remove the door surrounds ( if you have solid doors, tork bolts from the top through the rollbar ) remove the rails at the back that hold your rear window, and slap that hard top on there, it buckles down in the front just like your soft top, and there are bolt holes where the top meets the sides to secure it to the vehicle, I do this several times a year, easy as pie.

Your jeep will turn over when started but won't idle what is causing this?

Possible vaccum leak/lean condition. If it is a older model check base of carb for vaccum leaks also check all hoses i.e. pcv, egr, brake vaccum booster. If any of these areas leak vaccum, the engine will run very lean and die. If your vehicle is a newer model, check all the above plus the idle air control valve/ motor. When you check for a vaccum leak, look for the obvious; cracked hose, hose pulled off, etc. After you checked this, have a assistant keep engine running while you take a can of WD40 and spray along the base of the air intake/carb system and spray around the egr valve( which could be sticking open). When you find a vaccum leak the engine will temorarily smooth out until the fluid has been consumed. Remember, if the engine will run at higher RPMS, but wont idle it is most likely a loss of vaccum that is causing the problem. Good luck

AnswerIt could also be the throttle positioning sensor (TPS), I have found it to be more common than not. try this first many times over lookedcheck your battery voltage a low battery can be the problem it can start but it draws the voltage so low cranking it zaps the computer memory and that includes idle easy test hook up jumper cables or booster box and see if it starts and runs good

Can you modify or fabricate a 1994 Jeep Wrangler Hardtop to fit a 1999 Wrangler Hardtop?

You can modify a YJ style hardtop to fit a TJ style jeep by grinding down the portion that fits to the windshield and you can mount a TJ style hardtop to a YJ style Jeep by building up the fiberglass that fits to the windshield. The rear of a YJ and the rear of a TJ are the same size, but the hardtop mounting holes are located in different places on the YJ versus the TJ so drilling new ones would be required. The door channels are identical from YJ to TJ. The front area of the hardtop that mounts to the windshield channel for a YJ hardtop has to be ground down on the right and left corners and the center has to be ground up in an arc to accommodate the slight rise on the TJ windshield frame.

The front section of the TJ style hardtop has to be built up using fiberglass patches and filler and then ground to fit if you are trying to make it fit on a YJ. Also the mounting latches on the top of the windshield on a YJ are very different than a TJ so footman loops and latches have to be installed. Grinding down is always easier than building up so its possible but requires quite a bit more effort to modify a TJ hardtop to fit a YJ than it does to modify a YJ hardtop to fit a TJ. I have modified a YJ hardtop to fit a TJ because I got one cheap, otherwise I would have bought the one that fits.

What is the difference with tj yj jeeps?

Here is the skinny of the Jeep Wrangler The YJHistory The YJ model was the first jeep sold with the name of Wrangler, manufactured from '87-'92 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, from '92-'95 they were prduced in the Toledo, Ohio jeep plant. The YJ uses a 2.5L I-4 AMC 150 or optional 4.2L 258 I-6 until 1991. That year, a fuel injected 4.0L I-6 AMC 242 variant replaced the 4.2L I-6. The 2.5L I-4 got multipoint injection the same year, increasing hp to 123 net. An I-4 equipped Wrangler can do appr. 14 secs 0-60 mph, top speed appr. 90 mph, with average MPG 20. I-6 with injection does 0-60 in 10 secs, top speed appr. 105 mph. The numbers vary a lot based on the rear end ratios. Axle ratios effect all performance and mileage figures. Manual trans: * 4.2L 258 I-6 and 4.0L I-6's: From 1987-March 9,1989, the standard manual transmission is the light-duty Peugeot BA-10/5 5 speed. On March 10,1989 the assembly line was changed and through the end of the YJ production run, 6-cylinder models received the stronger Aisin-Warner AX-15, 5 speed. * 2.5L I-4's: For all years, the only manual transmission is the Aisin-Warner AX-5, 5 speed. * ** Note: In 1994, the slave cylinder on manual transmissions was moved outside of the transmissions bellhousing to allow for easier replacement. Automatic trans: * 4.2L 258 I-6 and 4.0L I-6's: For all years, the Auto trans is the TF 999 3-speed transmission. * 2.5L I-4's: For '94-'95 models, the only automatic transmission offered was the Chrysler TorqueFlite 904 3-speed transmission. Prior to 1994, 4-cylinder models were manual only. Transfer Case: * A limited number of early 1987 model year YJ's were equipped with the NP207 transfer case * All later YJ models come with the NP231 transfer case. Axles Axles in the YJ included a Dana 35 non clip rear axle from 1987 to ~1990 then a c-clip version until the end of production, there was also a Dana 44 available on a limited number of Canadian YJ's. A limited slip differential was available for the D35.Drum brakes were standard on all rear axles. The front axle used was a Dana 30 high pinion/reverse rotation axle. This is a full floating unit. Disk brakes were standard on the front of all YJs. Gear ratios ranged from 3.07 to 4.10. Manual transmission axle ratios are from 4.11:1 to 3.73:1, I-6 equipped have 3.55 to 3.07:1. The front axle contains a vacuum motor actuated midshaft axle disconnect on the passenger side of the differential. An aluminum fork moves a splined female ring onto the splined male axle, locking the shaft into place. The weaker aluminum fork can be replaced with a much stronger exact specification cast iron version which was cast for the Dodge Dakota. Body The roll cage was extended in 1992 to allow for rear shoulder belts, and anti-lock brakes were added as an option the next year. A center high-mounted third brake light was standard(?) in 1994. Starting in 1995 the "tub" or body was galvanized to protect against corrosion. One of the common perks about the '92 - '95 roll bar is that it can be swapped into an '87- '91 YJ with little to no effort. Some have had to elongate a few bolt holes on the floor mounts but other than that it is a "bolt in" job. Specifications Overall length 153" Wheelbase 93.4" Overall width 66" Ride Height 72" Fuel Capacity 15.5 US Gallons, 20 Gal. Optional in '91-'95s Axle ratio 4.11:1 - 3.07:1 Curb Weight(w4.2) 3,028 lbs The TJ History Produced from '97-'06 The YJ Wrangler gave way to the TJ for the 1997 model year. Some updated features include: Coil-spring suspension (based on that of the Jeep Grand Cherokee) providing better ride and handling, and a return to the CJ's iconic round headlamps. The engine is the same 4.0L I-6 AMC Straight-6 used in the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. A 2.5L I-4 AMC 150 Inline-4 motor was available on entry-level models until 2003 when the 2.4L DOHC Neon 4-cylinder engine replaced it. This model of the Jeep was the first Wrangler to have airbags. The TJ's coil-springs were questioned upon it's introduction. Other changes included the 1999 model had the addition of a larger 19 gallon fuel tank (which became standard), child seat tethers and sound system improvements in 2000, and a new console in 2001. Also, for the 2000 model year the AX-15 transmission was replaced with the NV3550. Despite the 1997 model year debut, it was actually available starting in the spring of 1996.

Rear end gear ratio varied depending on motor size and trans type: 4.0L I-6/Auto = 3.07:1 gear ratio also optional 3:73:1 gear ratio 4.0L I-6/Manual = 3.07:1, 3.55:1, or 3.73:1 gear ratio 2.5L I-4 or 2.4L I-4/Auto = 3.73:1 gear ratio 2.5L I-4 or 2.4L I-4/Manual = 4.11:1 gear ratio Engines Engine Applications Years Engines 1997 - 2002 4 cylinder: 2.5L I-4 Inline 2003 - 2006 4 cylinder: 2.4L I-4 Inline 1997 - 2006 6 cylinder: 4.0L I-6 Inline Transmissions AX-5 5 Spd Manual 4cyl Motor 1989-2001

What is a tj Jeep Wrangler?

The Jeep Wrangler TJ Model was manufactured from 1997-2006. They are the next generation of open body Jeeps after the YJ. In between 2002 and 2003, there were some variations within the engine bay.

The TJ features all around coil springs, compared to the YJ's leaf springs. They have round headlights, like the older CJ's.

The soft top is much quicker to take down than earlier Jeep models, because the top simply folds back instead of requiring complete removal from the body.

The interior of the TJ is more "plush" than the earlier YJ's or CJ's. They feature cloth seats, and the soft top is much quieter than earlier models.

I have no experience with hard tops, but I would assume that they are very quiet, and I have heard that the hard top is able to be installed with the soft top and hardware still attached to the TJ.
