Vocational tends to refer to niche role vehicles - that could be anything from 6x6 off-highway prime movers to simple road tractors equipped with a boom and fork or grapple, to a straight truck, such as a dump truck, roll off truck, grapple truck, etc. These vehicles tend to be geared more for sitework, which may involve operations on unimproved surfaces, thus, they tend to be geared much lower. They're not intended so much for long distance operations.

If you are talking about the Scotts S1642 made by John Deere, there is no fuel pump. It is a gravity fed system

Battery cables loose or corroded which is not likely with a new battery but check the ground connection and the connection at the starter. Charge the battery with a battery charger and then start the mower. Disconnect the positive battery terminal and if the engine dies the problem is with the charging system. Check all the wiring coming from the alternator located under the flywheel. If nothing is wrong then you will have to remove the flywheel and find out what is defective. Can be a diode has failed or the alternator is defective.

Have you checked to see if the float has a hole in it allowing fuel to weight it down? Possibly the needle valve is sticking and not the float. Could also be the float needs adjusting. You need to open the carburetor up and see what is going on.

Most of the newer trucks average around 6 mpg. My 1984 International Cabover with a 300hp BC3 got 5.5 mpg and my 1985 Freightliner Cabover with a 3406 310hp caterpillar got closer to 6 mpg. My 1996 Peterbilt 377 got a lifetime average of 7.3 mpg with a S60 Detroit 500 hp.

If it started before but is not starting now, this is a spark or fuel supply problem, especially if the battery has enough power to turn it over.

Check your fuel line, fuel filter, and for fuel in the tank. Check also the plug wire, and remove and clean the plug for good measure.

The air cleaner may be clogged, so you might pull that and replace the filter or clean it.

After doing all of the above, if it still will not fire, try a fresh battery or make certain the battery has a full charge, but that won't be the problem. The problem is fuel or spark.

Just under 2 quarts with filter change.

it sounds like you are having the same problems i am having you need to replace the drive belt mine slipped off the idler bearing and stuck in reverse and now i am trying to find out how the belt goes back on
