Kia Optima

The remote keyless entry module on the 2004 Kia Optima is located under the driver's side dash. To find it, open the door and look up under the dash.

Tahe a metal hanger, straighten everything except the hook, stick the hook on the lock mechanism and pull hard and fast. If you go too slow the hanger will bend**to be more specific the locking mechanism is inside the child seat anchor, located behind the headrests in the back dash area on either side of the vehicle, pull the grey casing out of the backdash and if you look inside there's the latch, make a nice bend at the tip of the coat hanger and pull the metal latch pull,not the cable(i almost snapped mine :0 )ive done this with 100% accuracy on an 06' and 12' models but any model with upper trunk rear folding seat latches should be fine.

You have to take your remote to the dealer. Kia will not let you program the remote by yourself.

Usually inside the transmission oil pan, how ever it is not in the same location on a 4 cyn, on a 2004 2.7 V6, the transmission pan is located on the front side of the transmission case between the radiator and the transmission - normally they are located on the bottom of the tranmission case

All Kia products are designed to be operated with 5w-20. In an emergency you can add a different oil weight to get you by, but use as little as possible for as short a time as possible. Change the oil and filter as soon as you can and replace oil with 5w. The heavier oil will not hurt your car, HOWEVER, the tolerances on these engines are so exact that running a heavier oil in your car will actually expand the area between the lubricated parts.

What does this mean to you?

Extended use of the heavier oil will cause oil loss and smoking as the lighter 5w oil leaks into the cylinder and is burned at combustion.

8.3 qrts with a full flush, or else half the fluid will stay in the torqe converter. if you drain and fill it should be about 5 because you only drain about half the oil.

Jack up the 2002 Optima and remove the wheel. disconnect the caliper brake line and drain into a bucket. Unbolt the caliper, and remove it with the pads. Bolt the new caliper on and replace the pads. The brakes may be spongy and the new caliper will require bleeding.

Need a coil spring compressor or access to one and some basic hand tools. Go to the library and get a repair manual if possible, that will at least get u a basic knowledge of what u are looking at. then, u will need to find out if u have the rebuildable strut or sealed strut. if strut is part of the spindle, u will need the rebuildable unit. if strut comes off of the spindle, u have the sealed type. when u are ready to perform the changeover, make sure u have proper tools, jack stands, floor jack, and use the buddy system, be safe. My recommendation is to take to a shop and have performed for u. Good luck

For the 2.7 L V6 engine, if you suspect a power steering fluid leak after doing a visual inspection, check the fluid in your PS fluid reservoir which is on the passenger side near the front of the engine bay. If it is low, and you see fluid present, you may have a leak in your PS pump or one of the power steering hoses (high pressure hose leaks are common on high mileage Optimas).

If the struts are bad on any vehicle, including the Kia Optima, the automobile is going be very bouncy going down the road. The car will start to bounce and it will seem like it is never going to stop bouncing, even with the tiniest of bumps. It might also squeak when going over bumps.

The transmission filter is located in the bottom of the transmission under the oil pan. You have to drop the oil pan to access it but the filter should come with a new gasket.

Assuming that no new pressure sensor has been installed, to reset the TPMS light, first inflate the tires to the manufacture's recommended pressure. Then drive the vehicle for five miles or more at 40 mph or greater.
