I have a Dell XPS M1530 Laptop and need to put a mini cd in to configure new hardware. I searched online to see if this laptop was capable of accepting this miniature CD without risk of damage or jamming. I'm happy to say that after slowly pushing the cd in until I hit the last milometer the laptop sucked the Mini CD right in, read it just fine, and spit it out on demand. Go for it!

I personally prefer 250GB + and buying a portable hard disk of 500GB 2> RAM: Or Rapid Access Memory. The processor uses this as a intermediate storage location or desk area between the hard disk since RAM is much faster to access than the disk( RAM is a temporary memory and automatically erased on shutdown or rather we can say session specific). The bigger the RAM, better the performance, more simultaneous applications can be run with ease! Currently 2GB is the norm but I would suggest 4GB with expandable capacity upto 8GB. This is one area where one should not compromise.

I'm afraid not. A DVD rw is a kind of DVD disc that could only be used to burn DVD on to. If you want to burn a video or movie to DVD, you need a DVD burner program like wondershare to do the job. I have used the DVD burner, and it works well for me. Operations are quite easy.

If you are going to just use SAP front end (means, the SAP is installed on a server and you are going to just access it by connecting to the server using network) any laptop will do If you are going to install the whole SAP system in you laptop, You need to consult with a technical person. There can be differences in the main power connectors to the board - e.g not the standard 24 and 4 or 20 and 4, the voltages produced are the same but the amps can be higher. Also the server may have more peripheral connectors in order to power multiple hard drives etc. My fujitsu is a low profile rack mounted server and it's PSUs are hot swap-able and don't cross over to other desktop machines. They just slot in and out without having to disconnect any cables. It's 6 SCSI hot swap hard drives are all powered from two peripheral power connectors connected to a common board. But the a tower case IBM server that I have has 6 peripheral connectors and non standard main power connectors. So there are minor and major differences depending on the server. So you need to look very carefully at the specs and what you want it to do.

If your budget can handle it, a Mac Mini is quite a nice desktop computer for simple home usage. The lowest grade Mini would probably suffice, especially if you aren't planning on doing any gaming.

However if you are more of a PC user, I would suggest the Dell XPS series. The Studio XPS 8100 is the lowest in terms of price but would likely suit a non-professional home user just fine.
