Cyclopia is an extreme malformation of the external & internal structure of the head. It can not be treated or cured. The brain is so radically reduced and simplified that there is no way to "repair" it. It had never grown properly to begin with. In typical Cyclopia, there is but one eyeball in the middle of the face (?). The brain is not divided into hemispheres and is missing many components. In addition, the nose,if not absent altogether, is a proboscis that is unconnected to the throat. The bones of the face serve wholly different functions than normally (eye orbit made of nasal bones, for example.). It is inconceivable to even think of treating cyclopia. You should get your cat checked at the vet. They will run a blood test. Most of the time, you won't know because your cat will show no symptoms. I have had two cats with feline leukemia, and when they did get sick you could see any or all of the following things: excessive thirst, excessive urination, lethargy, lack of grooming, excessive drooling, anti-social demeanor, extremely white skin (caused by anemia). Any or all of these things can happen, but it really is best to get them tested. Feline leukemia is like HIV/AIDS in humans and it's not the disease, per say, that kills them, it's the secondary infections their bodies cannot fight off. Make sure to get them tested at least twice! Both of my kittens tested negative when I first got them. The vet suggested we not spend the money on the vaccine because they were going to be indoor pets, so we didn't. Three months later one of them became sickly ill, we brought him into the vet and he was retested. He tested positive and died less than two weeks later. Our other cat has tested positive also but he has stuck with us for a little under a year and half now. If you mean the cost for treatment, depending on the treatment the doctor recommends. My husband had chemo and radiation for brain cancer. I don't know how much the chemo was, but I think the radiation was like $2,000 per session, and he had 30 sessions. Plus all the days in the hospital. I am Walter Brealey, Michaels father, and I am sorry to report the loss of our beloved Michael James. Michaels death certificate lists 11:35 a.m. on May 2, 2010 as his time of death. Michael was actually pronounced dead in the Emergency Room at Mercy Hospital Saturday morning at about 1 a.m.. However, because Michael was an organ donor he was kept on life support several more days until the organ recipients could be assembled.

The cause of death listed on the death certificate is "pending investigation". Michael died at the same hospital where he was born at 32 years and 37 days later. His mother, sister and I were with him at both occaisions.

I wanted to thank all of Michaels friends for their love and support. Michaels friends had several Memorial events to commemorate his life. I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and respect that they felt for him. I knew my son was very popular but I had no idea that he had so many friends and associates.
