chances are it's your starter solenoid. test current strength to see if power is getting past the solenoid to the starter.

I have the HID headlights for low beam and the halogen lights for high beams. The halogen lights also serve as daytime running lights. I noticed one day that the running lights weren't working and the high beams weren't either. I traced the problem to the light bulb socket--seemed one of the connectors in the socket had gotten hot and melted the socket. I replaced the socket (passenger side) and both started working (evidently they are wired in series). After about 7 months I noticed them off again. I looked and the same socket (passenger side) had melted again. I went to the auto parts place and bought a "heavy duty" socket and replaced it again. After 1 year they are both still working.

try this if it is the reminder light to change your oil and stuff.

1. With your car OFF, place your key in the ignition and turn to "On". Do not start the car.

2. Find the odometer button and press until it reads the total odometer setting, (not the Trip A or Trip B setting).

3. Turn the key to OFF.

4. Place your finger back on the odometer button, press and hold. At the same time, turn the key back to "On".

5. Hold the odometer button in until the MAINT REQD light goes out...should take about 8-10 seconds.

Remove the negative battery cable for 30 seconds.

Or you can remove the fuse in the under-the-hood fuse panel marked "EFI" for 10 seconds. This works on most all Lexus models from 90-95.

P0401 "egr insufficient flow" can indicate many things, including:

1-vacuum line plugged or leaking 2-pipe from exhaust to egr valve plugged 3-pipe to vacuum modulator valve from egr valve plugged 4-passages at egr are plugged 5-bad egr valve 6-bad EGR VACUUM MODULATOR VALVE

I tried cleaning egr modulator valve, (beside/above egr)removed and tested egr vacuum & movement, inspected and cleaned all vacuum lines openings and pipes. All above did not work. I replaced the egr vacuum modulator valve. Light went out without a reset in about 30 miles of driving. Not sure if this valve can be cleaned. Retails for $69.US

On my 2007 ES 350, it's a CR1632 button cell. I had a little trouble finding one locally when mine died. Even the Lexus dealer didn't have it! But I finally did find one at a larger Radio Shack store.

Just remove the metal key from the fob, insert it into the slot exposed near where the key went, and pop the fob open. Insert the battery, and you should be all set.

Disconnect the battery, remove the spark plug cables, and boot covers, and remove the old spark plugs. Put in the new spark plug, replace the boot cover and cables, and reconnect the battery.

Lithium CR1632 (2008). I just replaced mine and got it from the dealer.

The 2008 Lexus ES-350 has a V6 engine.

Follow the steering column down to the floor, there you'll see a u-joint fitting with rubber bushings. Spray there with WD-40 and the squeak will go away.

Mounted on top and inside the fuel tank.

"Check Engine / Trac off" warning lights came on at the same, but the car runs fine.

It is possibly either the "Oxygen Sensors" or "Gas Cap" didn't get tighten enough.

I would take it to an automobile arts place like Autozone they will do the diags usually for free and then you would and have the computer codes to help narrow down the problem.

OS Sensor will run you around $90-$135 just for the part.

It's ok to drive the car; it will not hurt the vehicle.

I do want to add want thing and that is you need to read the code to see what it is. Right, it could be as simple as an O2 sensor (perhaps code ..041) or more complicated (code P0446), a gas cap and/or a charcoal canister replacement.

UPDATE: I had a code P0446. First replaced the gas cap, $30 from Lexus dealer, but did not help. Replaced charcoal/vapor canister ($350 from Toyota dealer using part number written on the canister). Bingo, both CEL AND Trac off went away!. However, replacing the canister took me about 3 hrs as it's located near the gas tank and above the rear axle--what a pain.
