Yes. Many Linux distributions were created that target PowerPC Macs (Yellow Dog Linux especially; Ubuntu, Debian, and Fedora also have ports). Any modern distro for PCs can also be used on an Intel Mac. Debian has / had a version for 68k Macs as well, but this is no longer well-maintained, and many programs lag behind the other ports in their versions.

Software such as Virtual Box allow you to create a virtual Linux computer on your Mac. (See links below)

If it is a G4 iBook produced after 2002 it may not be able to run Mac OS 9 separately. Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) uses the Classic Environment which runs Mac OS 9 within Mac OS X. There will be a Classic option in the System Preferences where you can verify that the Mac OS 9 System Folder is available. Double clicking a Mac OS 9 application should launch the Classic Environment.

If you have a boxed retail version you can reinstall Mac OS 9 by inserting the Mac OS 9 disc, restating the computer and holding down the C key while it starts up. This will boot the computer from the Mac OS 9 CD rather than the hard disc. Open the Installer, Click the Options button and then tick the Clean Install option. Install Mac OS 9.

If you have Mac OS 9 on a Restore disc that came with the computer Open Software Restore and select Restore Mac OS 9 Only.

If the computer originally had an earlier version of Mac OS X and is now no longer compatible with the original Restore disc you can download an updated version from the Apple support site (See links below) by clicking the Accept And Download link at the bottom of the page.

An installation cd/dvd is essential in order to repair the start-up disk. The Mac needs a booting platform & this cd/dvd provides exactly the same. One cannot repair the boot partition while initiating the system from it. Thankfully, there are couple of disk repair software such as Stellar Volume Repair and Disk Warrior that provides bootable disk if your installation cd is missing. You can boot from the DVD created by the software and then perform repairment with the help of these partition repair tools.

You can install Windows on a Mac. You could delete Mac OS X but then you would not have a Mac so it would be rather pointless as you may as well have purchased a Windows computer to start with.

You should buy a MacBook Pro if you are frequently involved in high end, photography, video editing, or music production. It is really meant for the high end users. If you will just be using the computer to check email, browse the web, write documents it is not worth the money and a standard P.C. should work for you. The MacBook Pro is a high end machine for high end users.

To add a freeze frame still image to a movie in iMovie move the mouse pointer over the image, in the project section, you wish to freeze and right click (or press the Control key and click) and select Add Freeze Frame from the pop up menu. This will add a 4 second still clip into the movie. Double click on the new clip to show the inspector and you can change the Duration of the clip or add an effect to the clip. Moving the mouse over the new clip reveals a small blue options menu in the bottom left corner of the clip. From this you can select Cropping, Ken Burns and Rotation with which you can crop, rotate or scan across the still image - for example to zoom in on a persons face.
