• Humans are not perfect and they can make mistakes and in the case of your affair which did end you hopefully learned from your mistake. Unfortunately, when you chose to have an affair you were irresponsible; hurt your wife and you were not honest enough to tell her about it yourself and she had to find out the hard way. You broke that bond of trust that comes with loving someone. Hopefully, good communication skills between you and your wife and perhaps marriage counseling will let you earn her trust back (which may takes months or even a year or more) and then the trust is earned back. Just be patient with your wife. Spend time on the weekends with her and if possible, take her out for dinner (does not have to be at an expensive restaurant) buy her flowers once a month (even one single rose with a bow on it) and to get her mind off the hurt (and if you can afford it) plan a romantic vacation somewhere even if it is just a few hundred miles from home. Bed/Breakfast places by the ocean; lake or just looking at mountains can be a romantic place to mend fences.

That said, a mature man, while perhaps not personally an adherent of the concept, will always respect the beliefs of his partner. The above poster made some fine points, but in these modern times "safe sex" is a MUST because of sexually transmitted diseases. If a person wants to refrain from sex then they should be up-front with their partner before continuing on with the relationship. Both have to believe in it. Believe it or or not there are some young women still out there that would feel a lot of relief if a guy said this. Not all young women want to be pawed, mauled and have the stress of realizing if she doesn't "put out" she could well lose her boyfriend and this can also be stressful on some men that prefer to wait to have a sexual relationship and there are some young men still out there that don't want to rush things. Good for them and very smart! The question is about abstinence, not safe sex. Safe sex is certainly "a must" in these modern times...abstinence is not. Abstinence is a choice that individuals (and couples) make, usually, but not always, based on religious upbringing, and a choice that should certainly be respected if it's not shared. "Pawing and mauling" have no place in any relationship...unless, of course, it's mutual. But then again, as I said in the first post, this is a "personal opinion," not a pronouncement of fact. (As an aside, abstinence before marriage by one partner offers no guaranteed protection against STDs.)

It sounds as if you are referring to common law marriage. That doesn't exist in most jurisdictions. Generally, in order to be legally married a couple must obtain a valid marriage license in their particular jurisdiction and have their marriage solemnized by some official who is allowed to perform marriages in that jurisdiction.

If you are in a relationship, yes. If he's the only one in a relationship, you are either hoping he ends it to be with you or wanting a reciprocation of your feelings. You wouldn't have been honest with him unless you were hoping he would want to pursue an emotional and possibly sexual relationship with you.

lay off his case. you don't want it to end in divorce. if you force, you'll divorce. grow together and talk about it, but let him steer his own ship too. Just remember that you have the rest of your life to be with that person if you get married. Don't rush it! 5 years dating may seem like a long time but compare that to 50 years of marriage.

• After a husband cheats and comes home to his wife, he has broken that serious bond of trust and will have to earn it back which will take months to possibly a year or more. The relationship between the husband and wife will not be the same as she will always be reminded of his cheating and wondering if he still is cheating. Time is the factor to gain the trust back and treating the wife with respect and with love. If the husband cannot display this affection he would be doing her a favor of leaving her.

How can she be a working housewife. If the women works outside the home just as the man does, then the house chores are split, not the sole responsibility of the women. Even if the didnt work outside the house, she should not only expect help from the man, the MAN should want to pitch in, too. Cant have it both ways.

To work in the home or outside the home should give you a feeling of accomplishment. Just because a housewife doesnt get a physical paycheck doesnt mean she isn't earning for the family, she is saving. She is a doctor, cleaner, accountant, cab driver, shopper, cook, etc, for all the other activities she does, now if you had to pay for all that wouldn't a family be broke.

To work outside the home is just as satisfying, your are earning your keep so to speak and making sure that all the necessities are provided, just as above, through monetary units, though.

Doesnt want to do thinks together often or begrudgingly does them. Sits in front of the TV, too often. Do you feel like you are alone, althought you are married and there is another body in the house? All is not lost, try to rekindle the relationship. Think back to when you first met and do something along those lines or try something new. Go on a trip that you always wanted to do. Start a new project that may interest him and get him involved.

well that's entirely up to the individual, in my personal opinion he should not stay in a loveless marriage but it depends on the consequences... if there are children involved or financial implications or maybe the thought of being alone keeps him in a marriage.
