Sounds like a plugged Catalytic converter. They plug up and won't flow through and in turn get smoking hot from the reduced flow and kill your power.

The BOV for a 1987 Mazda RX 7 Turbo II is located on the top mount inter cooler pipe from the turbo to the air intake pipe right after the air box, just above a vacuum source. By simply disconnecting the BOV from the intake tube befor the turbo but after the intake box, you get the air pressure release sound commonly heard on many "tuner" cars.

How do you get your 89 Mazda rx7 convertible top to retract?

Lol ! It took me two days in 40'c days to realise the parkbrake has to be applied before the roof will operate. Then the top left (I think) switch around the dash cosole where your hazard light switch is will open it if you turn it back towards yourself. You have to undo the clips at the front too. Don't forget when you open it you can remove the "targa" section (big sunroof) and put the back part of the roof back up. It looks great .

How do you disable alarm from Mazda rx7?

How much can you sell your 1988 convertible Mazda rx-7 for?

Depends on the condition and how much is there and what mods are done etc. Anywhere from $500 for a rolling body needing work up to $20000 for a fully rebuilt totally modded street machine ! A turbo is worth more than a non turbo etc etc ! The average price for a nice 100000km turbo example would be around the $12000 mark where as a 100000km non turbo may only fetch $8000 ! The turbo ones werent released in australia so like my own fully modded black example they are all imported. The non turbo convertibles were the only ones sold new here in australia. They (mazda australia) did sell turbo hardtops just not turbo softops! Hope it helps .

If a 1987 RX-7 1.3 B rotary engine has been rebuilt why would it blow blue smoke on cold starts for a few seconds and then run fine?

This is actually to be expected to a certain extent with these cars, since they are designed to inject a small amount of oil into the combustion chamber to cool and lubricate the seals. When the engine is shut off the last bit of this injected oil does not get burned off, and just sits in the combustion chamber. It is then burned at startup along with freshly injected oil, giving a "double dose" for a second or two. I would be more concerned if, after sitting a while, the motor DIDN'T produce a little blue smoke. Now if it looks like you're fogging for mosquitoes, I'd say your rebuild wasn't a complete success, but as long as the smoking stops within a few seconds, I'd say it's OK. I totally agree with the above answer... I've owned 2 RX7's and the both blew blue smoke at start up. ZOOM ZOOM!!!!!!!!!!

Ditto. I own one with 63,000 miles on it and it does it too.

my 84 rx7 has 160,000 miles and does it aswell and she still runs stong

these motors, 12A and the 13B, have an oil metering pump that injects oil into the rotor housings every time you use the gas pedal. so the more that you pump the gas the more oil that is injected into the housings. its to help all the seals and apex seals to live in the harsh temps in a rotor motor.(long time rotary driver and racer) thanks

How do you remove the power window switch in a 1991 Mazda rx7?

Look at the door panel, the handle/arm rest where the switch is located has 4 long screws recessed into it on the bottom, they will look like deep holes but there are screws inside, remove them. on the door handle, (to open the door from the inside), there is a small screw, remove it. now feel along the bottom SIDE of the door panel itself, there should be four to five screws hidden in the carpeting, remove them, along with screws on the side edges of the doors, remove them. now, after you have removed the peice of plastic at the door handle, leaving nothing but the handle there, it will expose a screw that is attached to the handle of the "armrest" on the door. remove it. after all this is done, pull up, and back on the door, you will hear a snap, that will be the plastic "pop screws" ,its ok, they will pop back into their place after. now your door panel is off, unplug the wire attached to the switch, and push the switch out the top of the "arm rest".

Much easier to use a small screwdriver and insert tip into edge of switch and carefully pry it up and out on both ends of switch. Be very gentle in this procedure and try not to damage switch. Just takes a couple minutes instead of removing the complete door panel and replacing--mtndawg--
