Can SP 140T Lincoln weld 8mm thick steel?

Yes, it is possible , however it depends on the type of joint you are trying to weld, and how structural you need it to be . Generally the low amperage of these machines lack the penetration needed for thicker metals. But with proper joint preparation IE. beveling the edges, and using flux core wire , along with multiple passes , you could achieve a good weld. Also it should be noted that these machines have a low duty cycle , meaning that, in order to weld thicker metals the machine must be used at it's highest settings , effectively shortening the amount of time you have to make a certain length of weld, which in this case is short. Usually a 20% duty cycle means at it's high settings , you can only weld 2 mins. out of every 10 mins, this is to avoid overheating the machine.

Yes... typically killed carbon steel is used. However, you will need to watch out that your lean amine system is not too lean. You want a level of H2S in there that will allow a protective layer of iron sulfide to lay out in the piping and not be removed. If the lean amine loadings are too low in H2S content, that layer can be removed and it will no longer be protected. In this case be watchful of higher velocity areas. Example: small bore piping, reducers, tees, elbows... pay attention to the flow directions and check your areas of "impingement" with Ultrasonic thickness measurements or profile radiography.

How do you thaw frozen water pipes on a moblie home?

When I use to live up North in Canada (-45 below) we would put "Red Devil" into the pipes before leaving to go on holidays. This stops the pipes from freezing. When we got back to the trailer we would flush out the pipes by leave faucets running for approx. a 1/2 hour. I now live in B.C. and although fairly warm winters we have had a few nasty ones (just had a cold winter) and I take a hair dryer and heat the pipe up. Also if you let hot water from a kettle run through (a little at a time) it loosens things up.
