Are carbon steel swords reliable?
First off all swords contain carbon, the differing amounts of carbon, control many aspects of the steel's elasticity and hardness. The best swords are made up of a balance of high and low carbon metals such as the ancient Katanas used by the Samurai. The sword smiths combine a higher carbon steel for the cutting edge and a lower carbon for the core of the weapon, thereby making an extremely sharp yet extremely durable sword. Heat is also a main factor in the construction of a sword, by heating the blade to high temperatures and quenching it at different rates you can achieve many variations of hardness in the steel. To pass judgment on whether a "carbon steel sword" is reliable or not I would need a little more information on the tempering process used and who made the sword. But overall a higher carbon is desired in cutting blades but you have to be careful not to get to the point of being brittle.
The main difference is the following:
On a CNC Lathe the material to be worked is held in a chuck and rotated around and the tools are clamped. These tools are then moved against the rotating material to cut into it.
On a CNC Mill the tools are held in a chuck and rotated around and the material to be worked is clamped. These tools are then moved against the stationary material to cut into it.
How do you know if you have a bad throttle body?
You can tell if you have a bad throttle body by reading the error codes with an OBD II reader. The throttle body can also be examined for leaks or linkage issues.
What property describes how a mineral breaks?
joined together. In a mineral that displays cleavage, the bonds of the crystal structure are weaker in the directions in which the mineral breaks.
Some minerals such as quartz break into pieces with curved surfaces. Other minerals may break differently-perhaps into splinters or into rough or jagged pieces. In a mineral that displays fracture, the bonds that join the atoms are fairly equal in strength in all directions. The mineral does not break along flat surfaces because there are no particular directions of
weakness in its crystal structure.
What is receiver safety relief valve?
A receiver is normally some kind of pressure vessel the pressure inside the vessel/tank became too high the structure could fail"poss with dire consequenses".Therfore a safety valve is fitted to release internal pressure at a pre set figure set below the critical or dangerous pressure level that the receiver is designed for. This is usually reffered to as the SWP,or safe working pressure. Mike Webster.
No and yes.
Amendment (not from a professional plumber!): If you were simply running the sink drain into the shower drain and if there was not a reduction in pipe size, I would think you would be able to do that. I think the reason you need a trap for the sink has to do with code that requires a trap be no more than 24" from the basin to the trap arm. That being said, the pedestal sink in my house does not have a trap until after it drains below the floor.
To the best of my knowledge, there is no such thing as an 'AF screw thread'.
AF actually stands for 'Across Flats', and is the measurement term for the width of certain spanners jaws. A 7/16" AF spanner for example measures 7/16" across the jaws.
AF spanners were designed to fit several older type of screw threaded bolts, such as BSW, BSF and others. A 7/16 AF spanner will fit both a 3/16 BSW and 1/4 BSF bolt.
You can of course find spanners with BSW measurements on them, however, a 3/16 BSW spanner indicates that the threaded part of the bolt is 3/16" in diameter, the actual size across the jaws of the spanner is as described above, 7/16", which mirrors the size of the hexagonal head of the bolt measured across the flats, this principle is essentially the same when dealing with BSF.
The whole subject of screw threads (particularly the older ones) is quite a minefield, but I hope this brief explanation is of some help!
Mikesk
AF simply means across flats. So the size marked on the spanner is the distance between the flats of an open end spanner or the opposing sides of the nut or bolt it fits.BSW,BSF and BA spanners and sockets are not AF as such as the size stamped on them is the size of the threaded part of the bolt or nut they fit.
There is a comparison chart for the different standards in imperial and metric on the web site Baconsdozen which explains how to identify the different threads etc.
Is the brake power the output power of an engine?
No, "Horsepower" was originally defined to compare the output of steam engines with the power of draft horses.
"Brake horsepower" (BHP) is the amount of work generated by a motor without taking into consideration any of the various auxiliary components that may slow down the actual speed of the motor. Sometimes referred to as pure horsepower, brake horsepower is measured within the engine's output shaft.
Shielded metal arc welding is sometimes called welding?
It is sometimes called "stick welding", because of the filler metal. The filler metal is in the form of heavy wire coated with flux.
What causes the oxide scale on metal during heat treatment or annealing?
chemical reaction between the oygen atoms and the carbon atoms
What would be the sympton of an open cad cell on an oil burner?
Failure to maintain ignition. The burner will start, but will shutdown within the lockout interval (30-45 seconds), "thinking" there was no flame.
An auger is a carpenter's tool for boring holes larger than is achievable with use of a gimlet.
Dose a 10-32 screw have ten threads per inch?
That answer is not correct...
To receive the size of the diameter you multiply the first number by .013 & then add .06". So, the math is as follows: 10*.013+.06= .19" Major Diameter. I'm not quite sure why the numbers .013 and .06 are used, but i will research this.
Can you drill a hole in a door and install a dead bolt lock if the door is fire rated?
The deadbolt should not affect your fire rating.
What is the purpose of camshaft in the diesel engine?
The camshaft operated the inlet and outlet valves in the cylinder to admit fuel to the engine before ignition and expel the exhaust gas after the power stroke.
The camshaft operates at half the crankshaft speed in a four-stroke engine.
How were the old cast iron drain pipes connected and how can they be replaced?
Two ways. Caulked joints and ty-seal joints. Cut the cast iron behind the hub and use a Clamp-all to join it to PVC pipe. If this sounds too difficult, CALL a Plumber.
Why do you want to replace your cast iron? That would be alot of work, only replace what you need to. Unless it is your sewer line then i would replace it all to the main. I agree with answer # 1.
IN ADDITION:
Back in the day, cast iron joints were sealed together with hot lead. Depending on the position of the cast iron pipe and the size of it. Either one can cut the cast iron piping and clamp PVC to it or you can melt the old lead out of the cast iron joints and place PVC piping inside and then "recork" (reseal) it with prattley putty to prevent it from leaking.
CORRECT
1- Older CI roof drains were installed by Caulking using oakum and then pouring molten lead
2- Some older CI drain drains used a Durham system meaning the Cast Iron drains were SCREWED the pipe galvanized in most cases and then the galvanized was caulked into a cast iron bell.
It is unprofessional and highly unskilled to replace a cast iron leader line with plastic for several reasons.
Seems the non skilled always try to use some type of epoxy..
You may want to contact a licensed master plumber who has had the required 10,000 hr apprenticeship training
Is there a difference between a valve thread for an adapter and a valve outlet?
Yes, there is a huge difference. If you use a valve thread for an adapter instead of valve outlet, you'll be in a world of hurt. That's because the adapters have the correct threads! If you use the outlet, you might cross-thread and you don't want to do that. If you turn around twice hopping on one foot and clap your hands twice, it should be ok. But that's only if you spit on the valve outlet before you thread in the new valve adapter.
The preceding is a JOKE. Please post intelligently to get intelligent replies.
I don't know if you're talking about a CAR or a WASHING MACHINE or a SPACE SHUTTLE.
Answer 2Actually, a valve adapter should connect directly to a valve thread, that is what the adapter is for. Usually, the valve outlet connects directly, but if you don't have a plug you need the adapter to connect two outlets together. Of course, you really should just use the assembly properly with the plug end connecting to the outlet. What is the working principle of a condenser?
A condenser rejects heat to the environment to turn vapor into liquid. Ideally a vapor enters the condenser as saturated vapor, meaning it's at the boiling point. The vapor condenses and leaves the condenser at saturated liquid (also at the boiling temperature).
Are steam engines and steam turbines the same thing?
Usually no, a steam engine usually refers to a system using steam pressure to make pistons in cylinders slide, while a steam turbine refers to a system using steam pressure to make turbine blades spin. However "steam engine" is often used loosely to refer to either.
