The Operator's Manual reads: First access the time/date submenu through the settings menu. Use the +/- to the Time/Date submenu. Use the arrow keys until you can see the message "Clock, hours, confirm by press. R" appears. Press + or - to set the hour, use the arrow keys to move to the minutes....
The manual also says "Press the reset button in the instrument cluster to confirm, the hour is set and stored." WHEN you have the clock set to hour you want - you need to momentarily (1 sec or less) press the RESET button just to the left of the instrument panel and THEN your analog clock will reset itself. The hands move by themselves to the time you have set.
You MUST touch the reset button at the end of setting the digital clock (while you're still on the same screen). I just did this on my 2006 CLK 350 and it worked!

You need to buy a fluid extractor kit (About $50) which is a nothing more than a hand pump. You stick a small hose (Comes in the kit) into the dipstick tube, prime the hand pump and release a clamp (Also part of the kit). With the engine oil warm it takes about 30 minutes to extract all the oil. You then need a filter removal wrench (Less than $10) to remove the filter cap on top right side of the engine. Pull out the filter assembly, remove the old filter, install the new filter (With 4 O-rings than come with filter). Reinstall filter assembly and place cap back on. Add oil and done. Note if using extended intervals between oil cjanges use the "Fleece" oil filters, if not use the "Paper" filters, but you will need to change the oil more frequenly. I had the exact same problem with my 2002 CLK430 cabriolet. Everything seemed fine 99% of the time, but when I drove over and uneven surface diagonally--- like pulling into a gas station on a slightly higher grade than the road --- I could hear a distinct THUNK from under the car. Mine sounded like it was coming from the forward part of the car.
The problem was a loose bolt that holds together a couple of pieces of metal that add structural support to the vehicle. I think they are specific to the cab, but not sure. Solution was to disconnect the pieces, clean them off really well and bolt them back together REALLY tight.
If the problem is ignored for too long, the pieces in question can degrade to the point where they must be replaced at substantial expense. This was not the case for me. I think the cost at my local German Indy specialist was less than $100 for the fix. I haven't heard a peep since.
