Your IP is your "Internet Protocol" address. It is a way of identifying your computer system in the network of computers we call the internet. When you pay an isp to link you into the system, they will probably give you a modem, and it will have an IP address to communicate with the network. You can see what that address is by going to whatismyip.com.

Windows 7 took about 1000 programmers to make (I read an article from one of the project managers), then far more marketing, sales, and distribution people, all of which have to get paid. Just speaking of programmers, if on average a person made $90K (varies wildly by experience), $90K x 1000 = $90 MILLION. It cost far more than that. Development, R&D, testing, graphic designers, managers, packaging, and more.

They have to get the money back somehow and make a profit.

Intel does the exact same thing. It typically costs over a billion dollars for R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and much more to make a CPU. Actual cost of the chip is usually under $50, but they have to get that money back somehow, and make a profit, so they charge $200 for the CPU. ALL technical companies do this.

If you think Windows is expensive at an average of $120 for the home version, you should see the cost of their ENTERPRISE software, such as SQL, Exchange, and Visual Studio. Some of that stuff runs between $1000 to over $25,000, depending on features and licensing. Those are intended for businesses.

Again, Bill Gates is not making money off every product sold. He owns shares, and everybody that does gets a dividend. He used to be majority shareholder, but not anymore. Do NOT delete system32, it contains most of your computer's vital files that make it work. It basically wipes out your entire hard drive, and it won't be able to work anymore without those files.

I agree with Don. Reformatting wipes the drive clean, and you get to start over.

The first place to look is the Recycle Bin. That's the normal place deleted files go. For the rest of this reply I'll assume you're talking about "properly" deleted files.

Generally, the answer is no. When a file is deleted the space it occupied is immediately available for new files to be saved over, and when that happens the file is forever erased (for all practical purposes). Undelete tools can sometimes recover recently deleted files, or fragments of them; because of the way space is allocated on the disk, these work better on Windows 95/98/ME machines than NT/2K/XP. But the longer a file has been deleted, the more likely it is to have been overwritten and lost for good.

Unfortunately, it is unlikely that your data could be found. Even if it was possible, it would cost hundreds of dollars.

If you have not defragmented your drive then there should not be a problem with a qualified person to retrieve the item.

But of course if you have defraged the drive since then no the data is as good as lost.

Also, Microsoft Word does have a feature that saves a backup copy when you edit a file. If you have that turned on, and you haven't cleaned out your folders, then it is possible that it still exists. Of course, if you never turned the feature on, then it doesn't help at all.

You can't delete individual songs from any type of CD. If the CD is rewriteable (CD-RW), you can blank / format (remove all content from) it using suitable CD-burning software and then re-burn the songs that you still want on the CD.
