How can you find out who was on the 1979 football roster for Mississippi State?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Here's several ideas: Check the school web site www.mstateathletics.com, Search "Mississippi State game program 1979" (They did'nt go to a bowl that year) on E-bay. "Google" the same phrase, or something close to it. Mississippi State did go to a bowl the following year. They met Nebraska in the Sun Bowl. The '80 Sun Bowl program should be an easy and inexpensive find, if the player you are looking for was an underclassmen in '79............. and.... Fred Collins was the rushing leader, Tony Black was passing leader, and Mardye McDole was their top receiver. They went 3 and 8. McDole still holds season and career receiving records at State.

Can you canoe in the Mississippi river?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No, you cannot canoe in the Mississippi River because it is WAY too muddy.

On top of that, it is very thick and slow moving.

Also, because of an earthquake, the river started moving BACKWARDS. That has slowed down the currents, so you would basically be moving at less than 1 mile per hour.

How many river miles on the Mississippi River from St. Paul MN to Memphis TN?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

412 miles. Confusion in the previous answer is due to missing the change between the Upper Mississippi/Lower Mississippi markers.

Memphis Yacht Club is at Lower Mississippi River Marker #736 (736 miles from the Gulf of Mexico). 217 miles up river the Lower Mississippi changes to the Upper Mississippi at Cairo (Marker #953/0). The Missouri River on the North side of St. Louis enters the Upper Mississippi at marker #195 (195 miles north of Cairo). 217 + 195 = 412 miles.

As a side note, the Mississippi River current travels at about 1.2 knots (1.38 mph). So if you want to float down the Mississippi River from St.Louis to Memphis, give yourself about 12.5 days + stops. As there are only 2 fuel depots along the way, and one is a, "call ahead an I'll meet you at the old barge", no matter what you leave St. Louis on - it might turn into a raft before Memphis.
