How to Replace clutch master cylinder f250 7.3 super duty diesel 2001?

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

1997-98 F-250HD, F-350 and F-Super Duty

Fig. 1 Clutch master cylinder assembly-1997-98 F-250HD, F-350 and F-Super Duty models

WARNING

Prior to any service on models with the externally mounted slave cylinder, that requires removal of the slave cylinder, such as transmission and/or clutch housing removal, the clutch master cylinder pushrod must be disconnected from the clutch pedal. Failure to do this may damage the slave cylinder if the clutch pedal is depressed while the slave cylinder is disconnected.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the clutch master cylinder pushrod from the clutch pedal by prying the retainer bushing and pushrod off the pedal pin.
  3. Detach the connector for the Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch.
  4. Remove the retaining nuts and the support bracket retaining the clutch master cylinder reservoir and reservoir to the bulkhead.
  5. Thoroughly clean the area around the hydraulic tube and disconnect it from the master cylinder.
  6. Remove the clutch master cylinder from the firewall carefully. It will be necessary to rotate the master cylinder 105 degrees counterclockwise to allow the CPP switch to clear the dash panel.

To install:

  1. Install the pushrod through the hole in the engine compartment. Make sure it is located on the correct side of the clutch pedal. Install the master cylinder and tighten the nuts.
  2. Install the hydraulic tube to the master cylinder.
  3. Attach the CPP switch connector.
  4. Replace the retainer bushing in the clutch master cylinder pushrod if worn or damaged. Install the retainer and pushrod on the clutch pedal pin. Make sure the flange of the bushing is against the pedal blade. Install the switch.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable and bleed the clutch hydraulic system, if necessary.

F-150, F-250, Expedition and 1999-00 F-250SD, F-350 and F-Super Duty

Fig. 2 Remove the pushpins from the clutch master cylinder assembly

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the clutch master cylinder pushrod from the clutch pedal by prying the retainer bushing and pushrod off the clutch pedal pin.
  3. On the F-150, F-250 and Expedition, detach the Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch electrical harness connector.
  4. On the F-250SD, F-350 and F-Super Duty models, remove the CPP switch from the clutch master cylinder pushrod.
  5. Remove 2 push pins retaining the clutch master cylinder reservoir to the cowl panel.
  6. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  7. On the F-150, F-250 and Expedition, disconnect the clutch hydraulic line from the transmission using Clutch Coupling Tool T88T-70552-A, or equivalent.
  8. On the F-250SD, F-350 and F-Super Duty models, twist and unlock the slave cylinder from the transmission.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Rotate the clutch master cylinder 45 degrees clockwise and remove the clutch master cylinder and reservoir.

To install:

  1. If replacing the clutch master cylinder, it must be bench bled before it is installed.
  2. Install the pushrod through the hole in the engine compartment. Place the clutch master cylinder in position and rotate the body 45 degrees counterclockwise while pushing inward.
  3. Place the clutch master cylinder reservoir on the cowl panel and secure with 2 push pins.
  4. On the F-150, F-250 and Expedition, connect the clutch hydraulic line to the transmission.
  5. On the F-250SD, F-350 and F-Super Duty models, install the slave cylinder onto the transmission.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. On the F-250SD, F-350 and F-Super Duty models, install the CPP switch to the clutch pedal pushrod. Ensure that the CPP switch is properly positioned on the pushrod.
  8. On the F-150, F-250 and Expedition, attach the CPP switch electrical harness connector.
  9. Install the retainer and pushrod on the clutch pedal pin with the flange portion of the bushing facing away from the pedal blade of the clutch pedal.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
  11. Verify the starter motor will only crank the engine when the clutch pedal is fully depressed.
  12. Bleed the hydraulic clutch system and check for leaks.
  13. Road test the vehicle and check the clutch system for proper operation.

BENCH BLEEDING PROCEDURE

It is recommended to bench bleed a dry clutch master cylinder before installation.

  1. Start with the tube and reservoir attached to the clutch master cylinder, but the system removed from the vehicle. Lightly clamp the reservoir in a vise.
  2. Hold the clutch master cylinder vertically with the reservoir feed hose in the highest position on the body.
  3. Fill the reservoir and extend above the clutch master cylinder and make sure the quick connect on the clutch line is below the clutch master cylinder.
  4. Using a small screwdriver, depress the internal mechanism of the male quick connect coupling to open the valve.
  5. Stroke and fully depress and hold the push rod.
  6. Release the internal mechanism of the quick end connector and release the push rod.
  7. Fill the reservoir and repeat the above steps 4 more times.
  8. With the clutch master cylinder still being held with the outlet tube and reservoir feed tube ends high, quick connect closed and the reservoir full, push the push rod into the body several times quickly to expel any remaining air.

PS apply the o ring to the end of the tube before inserting into the cylinder,if you put it in the cylinder first sometimes it will go in off center,I know from experience. When replacing the master cylinder it is easy if you follow step in the guide,I would add that you remove the slave cylinder and leave the line connected, also release the clips that hold the line giving you more flexability and thus allowing you to pull the master cylinder out with the line attached which makes it much easier to hammer out the roll pin. Before you insert the push rod into the master cylinder I would suggest that you reassemble the switch that fits over the push rod ,then insert the push rod through the switch and then push it into the master cylinder, otherwise you may have to do as I did and that is drill a 1/16 hole midway on the bottom of the switch so I first could push back the switch and hold it with a 1/16 drill bit through the hole so I could reassemble the switch over the push rod and then release the switch by pulling out the bit.

How do you replace the starter on a 2002 lancer?

I replaced the starter on my daughters 2002 lancer and did it the hard way by crawling under the car to figure out where it was first, and then working underneath to get it out. After performing the procedure I realized there is a much easier way to do it.

- The starter is located on the back side of the engine under the intake manifold towards the drivers side of center. It is very difficult to see from the top with everything still assembled.

Replacing the easy way:

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Remove the plastic air filter box first. After it is off you can easily see the starter down by the shifter linkage bracket.

3. Remove two bolds holding the shifter linkage bracket so it can be moved out of the way.

4. Remove wiring connectors from back of starter solenoid. One connector is just a slide on, the other main wire is held on by a metric nut. That one may look impossible to get at, but if you configure a 1/4 drive ratchet with the right sized deep well socket you have room to work it through a cut out in large mounting bracket that you will see below. I'm thinking the Japanese engineers put the cut out there for this purpose.

5. Remove two starter mounting bolts and allow the starter to slide down and back so as to rest on the bracket below.

6. Walk around to the passenger side of engine and reach down under intake manifold to pull starter up and out.

7. Reverse procedure to reassemble.

8. Done without ever crawling under the car!

2002 lancer oz dash lights went out think its the fuse but dont know which one?

AnswerSame thing happened to me. I have a 2002 lancer OZ and half of my guage cluster went out. Seems there is bad wiring all throughout this particular year model and what i had to do is remove the entire dash kit assembly and re-wire the light harness and replace the bulbs. this will ensure that it never happens again. Alot of work for such a small problem but at least it's inexpensive to fix and i can see how fast im going now. Lol. Hope this helps you!

I'm not sure about 2002, but in my 2008 GTS there is a fuse for interior lighting which also affects my instrument cluster. The fuse is located in a fuse panel below the steering wheel. It is fuse #9, 15 amp size.

How do you replace cabin filter 2004 Mitsubishi outlander?

The cabin filter is located behind the gloves compartment. You have to empty it first and fully open it all the way down until you see a plastic cover with two screws.

Remove the screws and pull the cover and filter cartridge out.

Put in the new one, tight the two screws, raise the compartment back.

It's really simple and quick! It takes longer to remove and put back the stuff into the glove compartment than replacing the filter !!! :))

Mitsubishi lancer resistor i replace my new resistor for may blower and after 4 days of used its keep burnout?

The Lancer blower motor's are known to heat up and burn out. If you remove it, it is labeled with "Do Not Repair", but it is possible. If you look inside of the block, you will see a flap sticking up - that needs to be soldered down in order to work in the 1 - 3 positions.

I did it today, and it is a cheaper fix - Lasts longer too Thanks so much for prompting me to fix this before ordering new! Worked great! Another symptom you might find is that your AC/Compressor and condenser fan won't work in #4 position, but blower motor working fine.In positions 1-3 AC/Compressor and condenser fan work great, but no blower motor. This part of the equation was baffling me but the blower resister was the culprit. And solved the problem. Thannks

What is the recommended engine oil for the GDI Mitsubishi Lancer?

Synthetic or Conventional is your choice.

If you have no major engine oil leaks and the engine is in good condition then consider using a Quality Syntheticl

If the engine leaks oil then have it fixed first.

Till then I would recommend using Castrol GTX 5W-30.

How do you change the fuel filter in a 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer?

While I have a 2008 Lancer, which has a different engine than your 2007, I believe the fuel system is the same.

While getting my oil changed a few months ago at a professional shop, I remember their computer spitting out the following: "Fuel filter is located inside of fuel pump. Complete fuel pump replacement necessary to replace fuel filter."

I'm sure this isn't the best news in the world, but it should get you pointed in the right direction.

How do you remove your door trims on your 2001 Mitsubishi Lancer GLi LRX1 you need to remove them to replace the speakers?

you'll need both a Philips head and a flat head screw driver. there will be 3 screws that you need to remove and several clip type fastenners (sorry don't know the exact name). one Philips screw is located near the door lock mechanism, on the part of the door that is hidden when the door is closed. with the door open you'll see it right away. another Philips screw will be near the door hinge at the lower part of the door trim. it is covered by a plastic cup that is the same color as the door trim. just flip the cup out and it will expose the screw head. the 3rd Philips screw is a bit tricky. it is behind the door handle (that thing you pull to open the door from the inside). pull the door handle and you'll see the screw. after you have removed the 3 screws carefully lift out the trim from the rest of the door. you will find several clips holding the trim to the door. use a flat screw driver to detach the clips one by one, taking care not to break the clips (they're made of plastic) or scratch the paint. putting it back, just position the trim over the door, and then push or snap the clips back by giving it a punch with your open palm. then install back the 3 screws.

suggestion: while you've got the trim out, it will be a good idea to squirt some wd40 on the locking mechanism and the window mechanism. or if you're up to it, remove the plastic that waterproofs the door, taking care not to tear it. them remove the old grease from both locking and window mechanisms, and apply new grease. then install the plastic waterproofing back. the plastic has an asphalt-like adhesive that glues it to the door, you can just tap it back.
