Nissan Quest

In my manual the Quest calls for 12 qts. with standard heat and 13 qts. for rear heater equiped. I would take the time to buy the repair manual. I've done it before and it isn't a difficult job but there is a lot to it. You have to run the car for a certain amt. of time at certain RPMs with one heater on high while the other is set to warm.... There are also a couple of bleeder valves that need to be opened and closed, the cap needs to be temporarily modified and the top hose needs to be squeezed. Like I said, it isn't hard, but there is more to it than just pooring the collant in.

In the 1999 Quest GXE (and I expect this is true for all Quest vans model years 1999-2002) it is underneath the driver's seat (on the outside of the vehicle) behind a black plastic panel. The 4 bolts holding the panel can be removed with a 10mm wrench.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the air cleaner lid and filter element.

3. Remove the three air cleaner housing mounting bolts and remove the housing.

4. Slide the B terminal protective boot back and remove the nut. Remove the battery cable from the terminal.

5. Disconnect the S terminal lead connector from the ignition wiring harness.

6. Remove the two starter motor mounting bolts.

7. Remove the starter motor.

8. The installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the starter motor bolts to 17-19 ft. lbs. (23-26 Nm). Tighten the Bterminal nut to 71-79 inch lbs.

Good luck! If I don't know how to do a project, I read the Hayes guide then I go to the junk yard to take one apart. That's what I did with the heater core. It was such a pain that I ended up just selling the van. Unless your very handy and have a lot of patience, I would pass this project on to a pro. Sorry!

It means your engine needs service. Most times there is a problem with the emmisions control. You can buy a repair manual that will tell you how to get the code from the engine that will tell you what is wrong. You need to disconect a plug in the engine compartment and jump from one cantact to the other. It's easy to do once you read the manual. The light will blink a code (2-1-3)... look up the code in the manual and it will tell you what is wrong. Don't panic. The light can come on for some pretty simple problems.

It sounds like you may have a bad mass air sensor. I just had this same problem on my daughters 94 Nissan quest. I bought a rebuilt mass air sensor for about 100 dollars and installed it myself( its easy to install)... they wanted 600dollars for the sensor alone and 80 dollars to install it at the dealer. After installing this part the car ran great again. However you may want to take the car into a shop and have them diagnos the check engine codes to make sure that is the problem. I did this first on my daughters car. It costs between 75 to 100 dollars for a shop to do a complete diagnostic test on the car....then you will know what all of the problems are.

Just replaced light in instrument panel myself. Take off the 2 screws in top the bezel. Then drop the steering column to furthest down and slowing wiggle the bezel out starting with the left side which worked for me. Bottom pushin pin should pop up and do same for other side. Next, unplug all the connectors and remove the bezel. Next unscrew the 4 screws that hold the cluster, 2 top and 2 bottom. You can then pull out the instrument cluster and if lucky you can see the back and pull out the bulb that needs replacing. If not, on the bottom of the cluster, there's a screw there but don't remove but unhook (push inwards) the two plastic ends which hold the display PRND21. Should slide down and should give more access to pull out. I also took out the annoying flashing air bag light and left if out and taped so can't be seen. Also removed the windshield fluid light which was always on even though fluid was full. Putting back would be reversal. Forgot to mention, also put on parking brake turn key on (no starting car) and put into 1 gear. Gives room to remove

I can't believe no one has answered this. So if the mini vans are all same here is how you do it. I did it on a 1999 Nissan Quest. There are two panels in the rear door that come out. You can try to undo the bolts around the lights there are 3 of them on each light. Unplug both lights and there are 2 wires that connect the license plate light connected to a white plug. Unplug the plug and push the grommet through the other side with the wires left in it.

(Pause If you can't get the nuts off of the lights you may have to remove the entire rear panel. Take the 2 screws out of the handle and then pop off the rear cover. Unplug the cargo light to totally remove the panel (recommended), this will give you full access to the lights bolts and all plugs).

Then on the other side there are 2 bolt like screw above the lights 2 not 4 unscrew them and the whole assembly will come off. I took the piece off and took it inside, you don't have to. once inside there are 4 screws hold the lights together. The screws probably won't come out by simply turning them. I took a flat blade screw drive and pushed on the backside as a I turned on the front side. Eventually getting them all out, I took pliers and squeezed the anchors to push them out so I could get the lights out. Once out on the top of the light fixture is an arrow that says rotate to remove. Rotate in that direction and the light comes out. Simply pull the bulb out and replace with new ones. I recommend doing both since this is such a process. I also turned the bulb holder around so in the future I would not have to take the grommets apart to replace the bulbs.

If you have gotten this far I am sure you can figure the rest out! Hope this helps...no one seemed to know not even the dealers!!! Good luck...oh and if you remove the rear panel entirely make sure all the body part holders are out of the body and on the panel before reinserting.................OR YOU OPEN THE REAR TRUNK THERE'S A HANDLE ON THE LOWER RIGHT SIDE WITH TWO SCREWS ONE ON EACH SIDE OF THE HANDLE WITH A SCREWDRIVER POP OPEN THE ACCESS DOORS AND UNSCREW THE BOLTS THAN CONT...TO TAKE THE PANEL OFF...(I WOULD TAKE THE WHOLE THING OFF) LIFT IT JUST ENOUGH SO YOU CAN GET TO THE TWO BOLTS THAT HOLD THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT COVER...TAKE THEM OFF NOW YOU CAN GET TO THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS...YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE IT FROM THERE....AND UMMMMMM YOUR WELCOME

1999-2003 Quest and Villager's ECM is located behind the glove box. You can see the ECM with glove box opened all the way. To access the ECM, remove the bottom right half of the dash. Few screw holds them in place so it is quick and easy.

U should replace them at 100 thous to be safe
