Oldsmobile Cruiser

Cruiser is the brand name used by Oldsmobile on three of their luxury station wagons. These are the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser (1971-1992), Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser (1978-1996) and Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser (1964-1977).

What other manufacturers wheels fit a 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser Wagon FJ 60?

User Avatar
The FJ 60 uses a straight axle with a 6 x 5.5 inch bolt circle with a large center bore hub. Other auto manufacturers such as Isuzu and Mitsubishi also use this style of hub mounting. Popular vehicle models are the Older Mitsubishi Montero and The Isuzu Trooper. Just make sure the offset is correct as well. The best fitting offset for a pre 1997 Landcruiser is 0mm (zero) which means the bolting plate is perfectly centered in relation to the front and rear wheel beads. I have a 1994 cruiser currently which takes the same wheel combination. There are also many aftermarket companies such as American Racing, Eagle Alloys, and Centerline which make great wheels for your FJ60 that have the proper mounting combination. Good Luck on your search for new wheels!!!

How do you replace the battery on a 1992 Olds Cutlass Ciera?

User Avatar
To replace the battery the first thing you want to do is disconnect the negative battery cable and then the positive cable. The next thing you want to do remove the 2 bolts from the support bar that crosses over the battery. This will allow you to move it out of the way. The last thing to take off is the bracket that holds the battery down and keeps it from moving. This is located at the bottom of the battery and kind of looks like a tab. Remove the 1 bolt and then take out the battery. To put the new battery in just do it all the steps backwards.

Your Oldsmobile 89 cutlass ciera has two missing fuses which are marked bat I assume is battery and one that is marked IGN which i assume is ignition both are missing should i check into this.?

User Avatar
Is something not working? BATT can just mean that it's a fuse that's connected directly to the battery and provides power all of the time. It might be there for accessories that need power all of the time. The fuse marked IGN might be just a spare fuse that is connected to the ignition switch that gives you power to accessories only when the ignition switch is on. If everything is working, I wouldn't worry about it. They might just be spare fuse locations. If you look at the fuse socket, you may notice that there is no metal contacts. This indicates they're not used for your particular model.

Replaced the battery on a 1998 cutlass and the fuel gauge jumped now reads 180 off?

User Avatar
You need to take the glass out and use your finger to physically flip the needle back around. It is stuck behind the post and will not right itself. Use a small flathead screwdriver to pull away the dash pieces and then you will see the screws to pull off the glass (plastic), exposing the needles. Move the needle then replace everything, using caution to get the odometer post through the hole in the glass so as to not break it.

Why won't your 88 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera stay running and drains battery when you put it in gear?

User Avatar
I would suspect a bad alternator and battery, have them both checked at the parts store. A car with a fully charged battery and a bad alternator will run until the battery is drained and then quit.

How do you remove thermostat valve from 3.3L V6 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser station wagon?

User Avatar
It's a bit tricky actually. I bought a Haynes manual, and the diagram within does not display this particular motor and so is pretty useless. The thermostat housing is located on the end of the top water hose mounted sideways on the top of the engine underneath the throttle body and right next to the junction of the exhast manifold and header. You will have to remove the air cleaner box for sure, but access is extremely restricted compared to the 3.1l.

Where is the Oldsmobile flasher?

User Avatar
The turn-signal flasher on my 2001 Olds Intrigue is the same unit as the hazard warning unit. The part number is GM 10401280. you can access to and replace it through the center vent air deflector. You can use a small flat screw driver to open the top clip of the vent deflector to remove the vent. The Hazard Warning Switch Turn Signal Flasher will be visible on the left.

How do you replace front turn signal bulb on 1984 olds custom cruiser?

User Avatar
1984 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser turn signal light bulb replacement: Purchase the correct replacement turn signal light bulb(s) first, before disassembling the vehicle. See sources and related links below for replacement bulb information. Then consult your owner's manual for the turn signal light bulb replacement procedure. As simple as it sounds, the owner's manual is the best place to start for bulb replacement instructions and illustrations. You may want to consider replacing both left and right at the same time in order to keep brightness and color equal (optional).

Why rebuilt 454 mer cruiser put up running 2months later no compression could rings freeze causing lossplugs burning black no water in oil smooth running when stopped?

User Avatar
I think there is a simple answer to this. I suspect your fuel is bad. Drain out your gas and replace with fresh gas and see what happens. If it ran good before you parked it, will run good again; the only variable is the fuel. A engine that is sitting will lose some compression due to loss of oil film from cylinder walls but will have enough to start. Fire it up.

Where is the crank sensor positioned on a 1990 cutlass cruiser wagon with a 3.3 engine?

User Avatar
I believe a 3.3L is just like a 3.8L or 3.0L. The sensor should be located behind the damper/balancer (the pulley that makes the belt spin.) This sensor is located on an adjustable bracket. After installing a sensor, be very careful when installing the crank pulley/harmonic balancer/damper that it does not make contact with the sensor. To remove the crank pully, you can use a special tool made by Kent-Moore. This tool works very well. If you don't want to buy this tool and promise not to sue me, you can loosen but not remove the pulley bolt, then use a three-bolt-puller. I believe you will need three longish 8mmx125thread bolts and washers. Do not use a jaw-type puller. Do not use any puller other than one made specifically for this purpose with the crank pulley bolt completely removed. The crank pulley bolt must be screwed in at least three full turns unless using the special tool.

88 Cutlass Ciera sat for a year new battery started fine ran for about 25 minutes then stalled Would restart but as soon as you touch the gas pedal it would stall out what might be the problem?

User Avatar
If it sat for a year and you didn't treat the Gas with anything to [http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/ast.aspx?zo=1163284&page=info stabilize it], then I would say start there. Gas can only sit for so long before it needs a "booster shot" fresh Gas. An Excerpt from the Classic Auto Restorer magazine. "How to deal with the Aging Process", by Richard Prince Gasoline Aging

Where is the fuel pump for a 1989 Oldsmobile custom cruiser wagon?

User Avatar
It is on the engine block held by two nuts. There are studs that thread into the block. Look under the A/C compressor, and you should see it. It has two hoses on top, and is on the passenger side of the car.

1990 cutlass ciera stationwagon and it wont start it doesnt seem to be the battery and makes a single click sound from a box that the radiator fan wires come from what can it be?

User Avatar
Have the battery checked but it is most likely the cable connections, they become corroded over time and wont allow sufficient power to start the motor. Be sure you have a solid ground ( black wire ) clean it and tighten it if need be, and clean and tighten the red one, follow it down to where it connects to the starter and do the same. The click you hear is the starter relay so the car " wants " to start but i think it is lacking adequite voltage.

How do you reset the computer on an Oldsmobile cutlass supreme after changing battery?

User Avatar
You don't really need to reset the computer. It does have base programming. However, it is recommended to take the car out and drive it about 10 miles. Some of this needs to be at highway speed. This will help it to "learn" the exact settings it needs. That should do it.
