How do you troubleshoot a oil leak in a 1999 Plymouth breeze?
There are (3) common leak sources on the 1999 Plymouth Breeze 2.0. Eliminate the head gasket by simply checking the oil on the dip stick. A leaking head gasket will almost always leave water or oil/water slurry on the stick. Check these (3) areas...
1) Cam sensor. Located on the left end of the head. Will often pool oil on top of the transmission case. Often misdiagnosed as a head gasket leak. Replacement sensor is about $25 and can easily be done without going to the shop.
2) Oil pressure sensor/switch. Located on the rear side (firewall side) and threaded into the block down low and just above the oil pan. Although the replacement part is only about $25, you may want the shop for this. Without a hoist, it is very difficult to access. Replacement also requires a special 1-1/8 socket for removal and installation. A leaking pressure switch will usually drop oil on the ground at the center/rear of the engine compartment.
3) Valve cover. This is the most over looked leak on the 2.0 engine. A leaking valve cover easily replicates a leaking head gasket, cam sensor or oil pressure switch. They will drop oil onto the ground everywhere below the engine compartment and will also pool oil on top of the transmission case. The plastic valve cover needs to be removed and carefully inspected. Often times they are cracked out in the corners from years of heat and expansion/contraction. Most mechanics also have a habit of over tightening these which is also a common cause of cracking. Salvage yard replacement covers run everywhere from $15 to $75. Inspect all salvage yard replacement covers very carefully for cracks as well. Gasket sets, including the spark tube seals, are around $35. There are two different gasket sets available for the 1999 2.0 engine depending on vehicle manufacture date prior to, or after, April of 1999. Date of manufacture is found on the door tag. Again, DO NOT over tighten the cover.
Good luck diagnosing your oil leak. They can be quite an adventure at times!
Why does My 98 Plymouth breeze leak coolant from back of engine?
Your water pump is damaged...have it replace its a big job you might want as well change your timing belt when you do it..
How do you change the front wheel bearings on a 1999 Plymouth Breeze?
The Hub nut itself just needs a large deep socket. I used an impact gun to remove it and unfortunately I do not remember the exact size of the socket. So for that specific step (removing the hub nut) no special tool is required. Its just a funky looking nut.
pull the tire, caliper and rotor, remove the cotter pin, remove the axel nut (36mm socket), then there are three 14mm inverted torx bolts to remove the hub assembly. its probably gonna be a pain to get out. clean everything real well and the new hub should slide right in

Then get through plastic, here you need to roll down the windows you will see a cross brace set up here is where it can get tricky if the window was busted you need to remove the old brackets that are still in place in that case if not you work the new glass through the window openings on the door it can take some time and may gt fustrating but it usually is an easy slide then you place the new bracket connectors in the brace tighten test window a couple of times and the you put everything back together
What can cause the steering wheel to shake?
Check all linkage for wear or play, jack under each a-arm one at a time ,move tires left to right for linkage/ up and down for bearings & ball joints and cv axles if you get play or pop's and clicks have some one follow the noise. Shake's during braking, rotors are warped due to hot rotors hitting cold water puddles on the road. Shakes to the left or right,if the steering wheel shakes to the left put the left front tire on the right side, test drive if it starts shaking to the right that will be the bad tire,vise-versa if shakes to the right .Replace that tire and get a alignment check, steering wheel shakes are front tires, the whole car skaking is the rear tires. This is due to uneven wear on the tire the eye can't see. WORN CVC OR U-JOINTS, UNBALANCED TIRES( COULD BE CAUSED BY LOSS OF A WHEEL WEIGHT, MUD OR SNOW IN YOUR WHEEL), BENT RIM, ECT. If you have directional tires make sure they are on the right sides LOTS of THINGS; First define when it shakes and how it shakes. Tires at highway speed; tire balance / improper wear (may be alignment issue). I have had intermittent vibration from using a different tire on front. When Brakes are applied: front rotors warped (worst at higher speed)but I have found numerous steering linkage issues (vibration at slower / not all speeds). Steering Linkage- vibration when hitting bumps on highway: tire rod ends, idler arm, pitman arm, panhard rod ends (if equiped), ball joints, could also be worn steering box (usually hard steering issues). There could be suspension issues like a damaged strut (not just worn-out). Checking: No engine, running get under front end and have someone turn steering wheel lightly back and forth, any joints should move in tandem (no looseness). You'll look for movement that is not consistent. Another way is to bottle jack under lower A arm on one side / get wheel off ground, grab wheel and move laterally back/forth from outside vehicle. There should be no play or noises when pulling hard. THEN put tire iron under wheel and pull up. Wheel should move vertically without shifting. This checks ball joint play. Look for inconsistent movement of wheel. Some have upper/lower ball joint, some have lower ball joint/strut. Sorry, does take some experience to know what is acceptable. If it bad problem it can be seen. Service manuals sometimes describe maximum movement for the technicians. Diagnois FIRST before replacing parts.
Often, this sort of an issue crops up when your wheels are inappropriately balanced, or the tires have worn unevenly. But sometimes loose bolts of the wheel or a distorted brake rotor could be the culprits. In case of a disfigured brake rotor consider replacement. The other issues can be taken care of by an expert. Brake warning light on in 1999 Plymouth breeze?
I had this problem for a few months and it took me forever to figure out what it was. I'll give you the few things I fixed at once to make the light stop coming on. Fill the brake fluid, change the break pads, and make sure that your e-brake (emergency break) is pushed all the way down and is not engaged. I'm not sure which one actually worked for me as I did all 3 simultaneously without checking the light in between. But try those and see if it helps you. : }

Where is the Plymouth breeze fuel pump cuttoff switch?
Plymouth does not use inertia/reset switches.
Plymouth does not use inertia/reset switches.
Tire out of balance, low air pressure, broken or slipped belt in tire, or wheel mounted incorrectly. Remove both front wheels, inspect the tires for bulges, dips, or feathering, inflate to correct PSI, reinstall and torque in a criss cross pattern to proper torque. If you still have the problem have the tires checked for proper balance. You should always check the balance when rotating tires.
Is there more then one 02 sensor in the Plymouth Breeze?
Yes, there are two on 4 cyl engines and 3 on the V6s. On the 4 cyl, the upstream sensor is located in the exhaust manifold, and the downstream one is at the outlet pipe of the catalytic converter. The V6 has two upstreams, in the front and rar manifolds and one in the converter outlet pipe.
Where is the freeze plug on a 1999 Plymouth breeze?
Not sure if it is the same as the 2000 model, but if it is the engine freeze plugs are located under neath the engine. You can find them by getting under your car, and looking directly above the oil pan. They should be located on the engine block around this area.
If the vehicle isn't overheating then it's probably not a blown head gasket. There could be a problem with the oxygen censor.

My question to you is why? ABS works and is a great safety feature. If you REALLY want to.. unplug one of the wheel speed sensors. This will also disable your electronic traction control. Can't have one without the other.

Under the glove compartment of passenger side remove the cover underneath it I think there are 2 or 3 plastic pins use a long nose to pull the inner part of pin just aout a quarter inch then pull the outer part of the pin..when you get the cover out..you will see the blower motor..beside the left side of it that is the blower motor resistor..If your fan is not working or only the high setting is working..replace your blower motor resistor..repairing this resistor sometimes shows a check engine..try to reset the computer..remove the negative battery turn the ignition to start for about 20 - 22 seconds then place the negative battery back and done..
Where is the fuse box in a 1996 Plymouth Breeze?
I have a 1997 Plymouth Breeze, and the fuse panel can be seen when you open the driver's side door, at the end of the dashboard. It is normally covered up by the door when it's closed, so you need to leave the door open to see it. Lift off the panel, (may have to tug a bit).

hey, it is located in the fender well on the driver side, you have to turn the wheel all the way to the left, the undo the clips, and pull out the plastic part and there it is
i found it easier to just take the wheel off and do it that way
I changed the battery myself, being a female in my golden age, I had no problem, didn't have to remove the tire or jack the car up, just undid the clips, tookd the holder off , changed the battery and put new post on. and Voila, it's running like it should now. took me 1 hour to do, cause I wasn't in a hurry. Just thought I'd share that with you.
