Yes. '71 was still a Pontiac block. I think '77 trans am's were the last to receive Pontiac blocks.

I believe the front door speakers are a normal size. However the rear or back seat speaker, if I recall correctly are such a funky size I couldn't find anyone who carried them.

I BELIEVE THAT IS THE SAME AS A 400 BLOCK . SO IT WOULD BE 5 QTS. mY 455 HOLDS 5.2 GIVE OR TAKE FOR FILTER INSTALL. HOPE THAT HELPS

first question. does the key have the chip in it? if it does its the sensor in the ignition wont read the chip and that wont let the engine turn over. i had the same problem and thought it was the starter. a new ignition switch could be a way to fix that but you can over ride it if you know how to deal with electrical wiring. any questions send me an e-mail wlmhardin11@yahoo.com

If you do not have one to copy, then a locksmith can make one from scratch, or, replace the lock, as the new one will have a key. A wrecking yard ought to be able to help you save a couple bucks on one.

I had this problem on a car once. If it won't shift by itself, but it does shift when you go through the gears manually, it's the vacuum modulator. Replace it and you'll be good to go.

take off the negative cable for 10 sec. or so, that should clear all the codes and reset the computer.

Autozone doesn't have the online repair guide yet for your car, BUT, for about $13.00 Autozone has a repair MANUAL for it with step by step pics ect. NO, I don't work for Autozone but they are very handy to have close by. LOL

It isn't very hard..but make sure that the car is completely cool before you do this, you'll save yourself from being burnt from antifreeze!

-remove the alternator

-you will loose antifreeze so either catch it or just refill it when your done

-remove the 2 hoses that are connected to the tensioner and unscrew all the bolts(there are only a few)

-i would suggest putting some grease on the new tensioner before you try and out it back on because it is hard to get in otherwise

-put the bolts back on and make sure they are tight

-put the alternator back on

-put the serpentine belt back on and ur good to go

when you are done make sure you replace the antifreeze and watch for any leaks..it may leak a little bit from one area, it could be because there is an air bubble or its just flushing out any dirt(kinda like auto burpping)

I also have a problem with an annoying alarm on my firebird, depending on whether it is an aftermarket system or a factory system here are a few ideas that may help. 1. Some alarm systems will have a switch underneath the driverside dash, flip it on and off three times (sometimes its a differant number) and it should do the trick. 2. Aftermarket alarm systems usually have the fuse for the alarm in the somewhere in the factory fuse box, although this fuse will most likely not be labled if u one by one disconnect differant fuses and check to see if the alarm is still working it is worth the time. 3. Depending on the alarm there may be a valet switch located somewhere in the cabin, the valet switch will temporaraly disable the alarm until you switch it back on. 4. I dont recommend using this last bit of advice im about to give but if the alarm is annoying enough and you have just about had it with the system you can disable the horn simply by finding the marked fuse. It's advertised as 325hp, but closer to 345hp. GM under-rated the LS1 in f-bodies to prevent Corvette sales from declining..

It means you drive down to you local car parts store and ask to borrow one of their engine light code readers to see what the problem is, the light indicates there is something wrong, that something wrong could be 100 things, you need the reader to find out whats wrong.
