Will a 305 fit in a 1987 Pontiac Firebird with a 2.8L?

Yes a 305 will fit in a 1987 Pontiac firebird,I just got done putting

a 350 in mine ,but if i was you I would do some research first

because I ended up spending a lot more than I wanted too

because you have to change the transmission ,get a longer

driveshaft or extend the one you have on the car, none of

the parts on your 2.8 engine will work except the altinator

and I had to fabricate a bracket, motor mounts are a pain to

change that was the worst part besides bypassing all my instruments

put all mechanical instruments in it.

check this sight out http://www.thirdgen.org/ for questions I might

not be able to answer .Also if it is fuel injection thi is a problem.

How do you change the steering rack on a 1995 Pontiac Firebird?

Job is much easier if you use a lift. Set parking brake and chock rear wheels for safety. Jack up the front of the car and put jack stands under each side. Remove the tire on each side, this gives you more room to work. If working inside, a light would be helpful. On the back side where the tie rod end connects to the wheel remove the cotter pin from the castle nut. You may need to straighten the bent end with pliers before pulling it out. Loosen the castle nut till the threads are almost even with the top of the shaft. There are two ways to break the tie rod end loose. Take a hammer and give it a few good hits. Make sure the nut is high enough so you are not hitting the shaft, that could damage the threads. If the hammer won't break it loose, you can rent or buy a tool that is called a pickle fork, it will pry the shaft loose. Some parts stores will rent you one a a very low cost. Next you need to put a container under the place where the lines from the steering pump connect to the rack, follow the lines to see which ones need to be removed, typically there are four lines but only two need to be removed. The first line you loosen may not cause the fluid to leak into the container but once the second line is broke loose the fluid will start to flow. Once the fluid has drained out you can remove the two large mounting bolts, these bolts mount the rack to the frame. One on each side. There will be a nut on the back side that you will need to hold with a wrench while turning the bolt from the bottom. Once the two bolts are removed you can take a small pry bar and pry the rack free from the frame at the area where the bolts were removed.

1994 Firebird is running rough. I just had the plugs changed but still having problem with it seeming to occasionally backfire What could be possible problems?

I got a 97 Firebird and had a heck of a time trying to get it running smoothly, jackasses at Autozone sold me Platinum plugs when it takes AC Delco Iridium plugs, changed those out along with the Wires and all was well. If you got Iridium plugs then make sure a wire isn't toasted, if you got Iridiums and your wires aren't toasted then go with new ignition coils. And if it still does not work, Throw it in the Gutter and go Get Another!

Remove the stereo on a 97 Pontiac firebird?

The removal of the head unit, or stereo on 1997 General Motors F-bodies, is a simple three step process. First the bezel surrounding the stereo must be be popped off. It is held in place by tensioned metal clips. Once the bezel is removed the head unit is retained by two bolts/screws. Removing them allows the head unit to be slid out. The final step involves disconnecting the wiring harness from the stereo.

The bulbs on this make and model car are very sensitive to skin oils from your fingers. Please when installing these light bulbs use a pair or dish washing or rubber gloves. How do you replace fog lights on 1999 Pontiac firebird?

You lay down underneath the nose end of your car. You will see a little panel secured by 2 screws. Remove the screws and then reach up in the hole and you will feel two bulb holders. The one on the outside is your fog light and the one to the inside is your turn signal/ parking lamp. You have to twist the bulb holder then it will come out and you can replace the bulb. You may want to use bulb grease to help minimize contact corrosion. Hope this information helped you.

Can you put a turbo and a supercharger in an 87' Firebird?

no, Turbos and SC's are an either or thing... not compatible with each other, well not convetionally... I'm sure there isa custom way to do it if your stubborn enough to put alot of money into it but even if you could it wouldn't do any exponential increase in HP.

My 1998 Pontiac firebird suddenly starting knocking it has good oil pressure does not smoke can you tell me what it might be sounds like it is in the top of the motor and just happened suddenly?

It's more than likely lifter ticking from a lifter that's not filling up with oil quick enough. It usually goes away after a few minutes and is caused by clogged oil passages within the engine. You need to use a product like Seafoam to clean your engine out or take it to a shop that has a Bilstein Engine Flush machine. Mine did it for years until I was finally able to get it cleaned out properly. It can be the most annoying thing when you are in a hurry.

I am installing a 400 Pontiac V8 in my 1975 Pontiac Firebird in place of the 6 cylinder What bolt holes do you use for the V8 Motor mounts Help me?

Are you asking which ones to use on the block itself? What year of block do you have. Pontiac has basically 3 styles. The first is a two bolt design up to '68. The second is a 5 bolt design..from '69-'75. Then a 3 bolt design from '76 to '79. I'm going to assume you have a 5 bolt design. You will need the engine mount brackets from a '69 and up Firebird with a Pontiac V-8. It will use 3 of the bolt holes in the block. The upper hole and two of the lower holes. Buy the correct rubber mounts to install on the frame and you are good to go. Hope that helps.
