I bought one on Thanksgiving, and I remember specifically that the thawing instructions said that once thawed, the pie should be used within three days. Unfortunately, it didn't last that long, so I can't tell you whether that was too long or not. :)

I remember that a very good and very dedicated gelato maker in San Diego, now gone, used a vanilla gelato recipe with egg whites instead of egg yokes. It was light and delicious. According to him, the range of Italian ices/gelatos range from sorbetto (without milk), then with milk (like sherbert in the US), milk and egg whites, finally, with all that and whole eggs or egg yolks. As I've just started making ice cream at home, I'm looking for an egg white recipe. If I find one, or a book, I'll let you know. Or, you can let me know.

I find these in northern Oakland county. I have a 5000+ pound pudding stone in my yard that was dug up during the construction of my house! I also find them in my garden every year when I till it up. I discussed this with a geologist and origin of these rocks is somewhere in Canada, and he said the only reason they are here is due to glacial activity.

Black pudding is not really a pudding because it isn't sweet. It is actually made from pig's blood and is shaped like a sausage (roughly). Black pudding is usually cut into circular pieces before being fried and served. It does sound disgusting eating pig's blood, but some people who know this fact are not bothered by it (me, for one!).

Tapioca is almost all starch and jelly is almost all sugar. It isn't bad for you if you exercise enough to burn off the calories. If that is all you eat, you will die young and round.

If it has gelatin in it then it has processed bone marrow. So I guess you could say that some do.

Types of chocolate puddings served hot might be steamed puddings or some sort of pudding-cake, such as the popular Hot Lava Cake.

"Dirt Pudding" is a name given to a type of chocolate pudding dish that is a fun and "different" kind of dessert. You certainly could substitute angel food cake for sponge cake in a trifle, as long as you understand that the resulting trifle will taste somewhat different. The result probably will be delicious, although not quite the same as a traditional trifle.
